the next hillyweird DIY evening will take place on the 25th of August! thanks to everyone who made the last diy evening so amazing. it was very special to see so many creative people get together.
as usual, bring your own arts and crafts stuff with you. the bar will be open during the diy evening for drinks.

On the 28th of August it’s ’s Bday Bash! And what better way to celebrate than get all melancholic and sad together with 3 emo bands including his favorite Dutch band!

thankfully don’t aim to traumatize children like the movie they are presumably named after. Instead the band, fronted by Bjorn, armed with an acoustic guitar, somehow pulls off making the Dutch language sound cool again with songs of melancholy for the days slipping through your fingers. Nothing like nostalgia for yesterday. Started as a solo project, Bjorn couldn’t deny his punkroots, got a full band to play emotional sing alongs, with the energy of PUP or Japandroids who you can still bring to your mom. Listen to them so you too can sing along!

P***y emo outfit played a Halloween show in our old venue in 2024 (real ones remember) and return to Hillyweird for this show. Masters of melancholic mosh pits. Ask them what EDLP means for a giggle!

is a self-aware emo/pop-punk band based in Utrecht led by Zaka. Nostalgia for simpler days of THPS, catchy guitar riffs, cliche lyrics (cliches exist for a reason) and do we hear autotune?

On the 30th of July we’ll have a q***r punk night headlined by from Dublin and are supported by and . Show up for a night of music, q***rness, joy, rage, community, resistance and a lot of dancing!

Dublin finest Big Tears will headline the evening with their bubblegum trannycore garage punk band, made by the q***r girls for the girls and q***rs.

Bleedroot describe themselves as “Leftwingbabyeatingantifascistprochoicemanhatingp ussybleedingcistemstompingcrazyfeministangryq***rvegetablepunx music” and are not shy about it either.

F*ggots on Fire is a fresh and new chaotic q***r punk band from Utrecht. Their lyrics focus on topics like q***rness, feminism, neurodivergence, while always keeping an element of silliness and playfulness.

From now on DIY evening will become a monthly event at Hillyweird! So come by and bring your art project with you :) The bar will be open during DIY evenings and all proceeds will go to Hillyweird as a non-profit DIY venue. Hope to see you there!

On the 19th of August we are happy to announce another heavy hitter in Hillyweird! We are expecting a full house so make sure to pre-donate at Hilyweird.nl to ensure your spot!

Headlining the night is multidisciplinary artist .unlimited (also known as Marjorie W.C Sinclair) blending dreamy textures, raw intensity, and genre-bending sounds into a performance that feels both intimate and explosive. We’re beyond excited to have them with us!

Joining them is Emirhan X! (.mp3) Friends and collaborator with our own he’s no stranger to our scene. As the city poet of Venlo and as a musical artist, he’s been pi***ng of racists on a national scale and igniting crowds with activistic fury. Mixing hiphop and punk into a volatile concoction you don’t want to miss!

will blast off the evening with their own distinct noise pop sound: a blend of wild production choices, screamo, poo and digital hardcore blowing up speakers left and right.

For our next show, 25th of May, we got a super sick band from Atlanta: Muelas. A mix (post)Hardcore, screamo, post-rock but fueled by righteous fury. There is even a violin! Check the vids and you’ll know you can’t miss out on this one!

Supporting is none other but Sh*tman! Fresh of their latest release Fall Back (it’s goood, check it out) and ready to show why they have such a great live reputation. Expect a gnarly potpourri of nu-metal, punk, grunge, stoner and well, whatever they feel like.

Opener Grozlan slithers in between genres, somewhere around groove/alt metal, dynamic and loud. But it’s also the band of Harprit, who’s responsible for building our venue. So shows some love, come early and headbang your head off!

What an amazing first night at our new location! The place was packed, great music, amazing atmosphere…We couldn’t ask for a better night after months of hardwork.
The only way these places can excist is by doing what did: keep showing up!
