For our next show, 25th of May, we got a super sick band from Atlanta: Muelas. A mix (post)Hardcore, screamo, post-rock but fueled by righteous fury. There is even a violin! Check the vids and you’ll know you can’t miss out on this one!

Supporting is none other but Sh*tman! Fresh of their latest release Fall Back (it’s goood, check it out) and ready to show why they have such a great live reputation. Expect a gnarly potpourri of nu-metal, punk, grunge, stoner and well, whatever they feel like.

Opener Grozlan slithers in between genres, somewhere around groove/alt metal, dynamic and loud. But it’s also the band of Harprit, who’s responsible for building our venue. So shows some love, come early and headbang your head off!

What an amazing first night at our new location! The place was packed, great music, amazing atmosphere…We couldn’t ask for a better night after months of hardwork.
The only way these places can excist is by doing what did: keep showing up!

The rumors are true! Hillyweird has found a new home at the new in the former Van Son paint factory, a stones throw from hilversum centraal.

With this new location we are aiming to do what we always wanted: be a place to enable people to build community, through music, art and other activities. With accessibility as the guiding principle.

However, it’s above ground and has a lot of windows, so needs soundproofing. We got a plan, but need help! And we need it quick.

Are you handy? Know someone who can sponsor construction materials or better yet, has money and a heart for culture? Giving everything we’ve earned at our shows to artists has left our pockets mostly empty and starting in April we’ll have to start paying rent, so we’ll need to get up and running ASAP.

Soon we’ll launch a crowdfunding campaign, but that and subsidies take time we don’t have. So can you help? We are looking for people who can support us bridging the period between now and the end of the crowdfunding, so we can start building this month and open in April.

Of course donations are always very welcome but also a short loan until we receive the crowdfunding funds would help us a lot. We are incredibly grateful to the people who already loaned out some money so we can buy some of the materials. But we need more. We know it’s a big ask so feel free to ask us for more info, no obligations!

While we try to establish a new location for our venue we’ll return to the site of our yearly Planespotting festival for round 2! Come support the scene including Hillyweird bands Tray and Aquelarre* but also Die Mis and Bandietos on January 22nd!

We’re coming out the basement to take over for one last show! The venue has been torn down but we have to give a proper send off to our time at the Larenseweg 30. So we’re doing a very special Hillyweird benefit show in the entrance foyer of VONK!

Some of our homegrown artists who debuted at our venue will play like , shoegazers and fresh of their new release grungers ! And we also have the debut of Heide, the stoner band of and who will be doing double duty. Because we have a special guest band giving support, !

All proceeds will be going to Hillyweird to prepare us for our next steps. We were very lucky with the place we had, no rent and underground so no sound isolation needed. We won’t be that lucky next time so we’ll need all the help we can get!

Sad news… after more than 50 shows of around 200 bands and artists since we started our venue in 2024, it looks like this will be the last month here. VONK is being evicted and with that we, and many other great initiatives, will lose our home.

A place that has been crucial in building the amazing Hillyweird community and music scene we have today. For many years there was no place, no stage, for grassroots and alternative music to develop in Hilversum. So we are incredibly proud and grateful we were able to create that space for and with you all and see a scene develop from nothing to what we have now.

We are working hard to find a new space and for that we’ll need our community! So keep an eye on our socials and newsletter. But for now, pogo, dance, sweat, mosh, sing, scream and enjoy our last shows here while you can!

On Tuesday 9th dont miss our solo drummers night!

Tonto (.zedde , Hiversum) is your local fellow support, no-guitar one-man band, with drumset and voice amplified in a jungle of distortions and digital artifacts. You get some sexy blast beats but also African polyrhythms at times, a lot of bumbum-cha like ghettoblasta and occasional ass-shaking straight 4/4.

Spooky-J (.j , Amsterdam) the architect behind Nihiloxica’s rhythmic force, dives deep ibnto the realms of solo drumming and effects processing for his performances. With roots in Amsterdam’s vibrant improv scene, he evolved his sound by merging live effects manipulation and drum triggers to craft intense, doom-laden dance soundscapes. His signature style is a fierce blend of rhythm and experimentation, designed to ignite sweat-drenched dance floors.

BÖ.SENBERG (.senberg , Berlin)
Armed with nothing but a drum kit and a stack of effects pedals, BÖ.SENBERG turns minimal rhythms into industrial energy. The solo project of French drummer Vincent Redel (La Colonie de Vacances, ex-Electric Electric), these live sets are a pulsing mix of ’90s techno and percussive power. With over 250 shows across 20 countries over the last 3 years, BÖ.SENBERG is a dance music force of power.

Teresa Riemann ( , Berlin)
Sprung from the dark caves of the collective german subconsciousness, forging an outlet via the Berlin Noise scene, Berlin based musician, poetess and performance-artist Teresa Riemann explores, through her creative output, the darkness and even more-so the light, which can be found in the spaces we like to keep locked up far away from where anybody can see them.
