at a very young age I already was busy creating, at first, mainly with sand in the sandbox, but soon I discovered all the other materials witch can inspire a creative human being. I had them all in my hands and

played with them, especially the iron attracted me and when I , at the age of 19 years,beated glowing iron for the first time in my life my passion was born: red hot iron. I never went to scool for it, nor I had a master, playing around , with falling down and getting up, I taught myself and after 48 years, once and awile I still stumble and learn something new. My smithy is in the middle of a large swamp called: De Peel, just near the spot where the Golden Helmet of Deurnewas found.

43 years ago, at the Christmas Market with my traveling forge.

I was forging in the city center for the Christmas market for 4 weeks, seven days a week.
I'd be away from home for almost six weeks: one week to set up the entire circus, four weeks to run the market, then one day home for Christmas and back the next day to take it down.
Taking it down easily took three days. A whole tour to cram all that circus junk into the trucks and take it to storage.
And lastly, and often the hardest part, I had to get my salary out of the circus director's pocket. That could easily take a whole day.
Then I'd load my own shop (which I set up and took down in fifteen minutes) into the trailer and rush home for the new year. With the salary and the proceeds from sales, I could easily make ends meet for a quarter of the new year.

Spinnenwebjes tellen.
Hekwerk wat ik 50 jaar geleden gemaakt heb.
Ik zag van morgen dat het boordevol hele kleine spinnenwebben zat.
