Every artist has their favorites within their own body of work.
For me, this isn’t always clear right after finishing a painting.
Some pieces I recognize immediately—yes, this is a great one!
Others grow on me over the years.

As I worked on this commissioned painting, stepping slightly outside my comfort zone to meet the client’s color request for abundant green and gold proved a rewarding challenge. During the process, Rachel Carson’s 1962 book “Silent Spring” came to mind; her unsettling vision of a world where nature’s voices fade under the weight of chemical pesticides, which, sadly, is still as relevant today as it was in 1962, more than 60 years ago.
I also found myself thinking of Lucy Jones’s “Losing Eden”, with its reminder of how deeply we depend on our connection with the natural world. These two voices guided each layer of green I applied, shaping the rhythm of growth and renewal across the canvas. The greens rise like soft notes returning to a wounded landscape, transforming concern into quiet hope. Each stroke becomes a small act of care, echoing their call to protect life and letting hope take root again.
