Today I made a bioreactor for the algae (in this case the bioluminescent Pyrocystis noctiluca). It mainly consists of some parts of a beer brewery set. Leds from that stimulate photosynthesis that the algae use. 🌳

Everything goes with baby steps but next week I hope to have the entire construction finished and ready to test with the motor, led lights and water including the algae! Then I will reflect on the whole object, make some new technical drawings and try to make it even better next time. 🌿

Currently working on all the components in which the algae grow. It contains growth lighting and a hydrophobic filter so that gases such as oxygen and CO2 can be exchanged, but so that no water can pass through. This way the algae can grow well in a waterproof object. combined with to create 🌿

I love this way of doing shape research. From sketching, to 3D modeling with cardboard. Also, sometimes the cat needs some attention, very important. 🌿

About my research project. This visualization shows the circular basic principle of the co2 filters. The filters 'inhale' CO2 and produce oxygen. The end result of the weathered olivine is used as nutrients for the algae filter, so that algae growth is stimulated and can be harvested again. 🌿 🌿
