Nieuwe Vide is an arts podium and artist / cultural hub in Haarlem organizing exhibitions, events, workshops, open draws and much more.

Check out www.nieuwevide.com for the full programme. Nieuwe Vide is een expositieruimte en broedplaats in Haarlem. Wij zijn tijdens exposities geopend van vrijdag tot en met zondag, maar bekijk eerst even de website voor specifieke openingstijden. Nieuwe Vide is voor jonge kunstenaars een springplank naar de kunstwereld. Het netwerk van Nieuwe Vide geeft kunstenaars de kans om hun praktijk te prof

essionaliseren. Daarnaast combineren wij jong talent en meer gevestigde kunstenaars in de programmering, die veelal nieuwe media (video, geluid, installaties) bevat, maar ook de ruimte geeft aan populaire cultuur (film, theater, strips, muziek). We zijn een maatschappelijk betrokken organisatie die door middel van een activiteiten- en educatieprogramma diverse onderwerpen voor het voetlicht brengt. Nieuwe Vide beschikt naast een tentoonstellingsruimte over een projectruimte en over twintig studio’s, die gebruikt worden door kunstenaars, muzikanten, cartoonisten, animatoren en creatieve ondernemers. Naast de eigen activiteiten werkt Nieuwe Vide regelmatig samen met andere instellingen binnen en buiten Haarlem. Zo organiseerden we in 2018 voor het eerst het GOLF festival voor experimentele muziek en audiovisueel werk, in samenwerking met de Pletterij en 37PK. Ook nemen we iedere editie deel aan Houtfestival, de Stripdagen Haarlem en werken we samen met Artcore en de Schuur Haarlem. Daarnaast werken we bijvoorbeeld samen met de Koninklijke Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten (KABK) in Den Haag en presenteren we eens per jaar een nieuwe kunstenaar op Supermarket Art Fair Stockholm. www.nieuwevide.nl

Visitors have access to hundreds of books, zines, and PDFs on social change, organization, and transformative visions of the future.

The Living Room is a place to put these ideas into practice, where the community comes together to create art, organize events, and take action.

Book binding Workshop by Gersande Schellinx at Zinefest! 31.05 - 14:30-16:30 - A collaboration between

During Zinefest there will be stands and crafts (30/31st of May) but also a workshop by Gersande Schellinx on the 31st!!

Each participant will craft its own blank (note)book using the French link stitch method. No prior experience is needed. All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring some papers or prints of your own.

French link stitch is one of the safest ways to make scattered prints or papers come together as a whole. Sewn sections are the (usually) most hidden craft at the core of many bindings. It is the perfect method to learn a wide range of steps towards bookmaking.

One can get familiar with basic bookbinding tools and techniques while making this one object (folding, punching holes, sewing, etc.) This process also introduces how one can map out prints for a publication, being mindful of the format of your materials and the potential of pattern making on your (note)book’s spine.

No book is indestructible, but sewn sections are one of the most durable bindings in the publishing world.

We drew fundamental shapes into characters and figured out they change character through their bold shapes, thank you for guiding us through this process at our workshop series!

Our ever expanding body: creating a network of q***r visual storytellers. (NL in comments)

Composting the experiences and lessons learned during the Dit Lichaam van Ons exhibition during and beyond Stripdagen Haarlem 2024, Nieuwe Vide and Dit Lichaam van Ons return to the collaboration with a new (re)generation of q***r visual storytellers.

Four members of the Dit Lichaam van Ons Collective (Abe Borst, Dido Drachman, Gus Møystad and Saint Theophanu) will return in a new collaborative cycle of the collective’s intention to inspire and grow the Dutch q***r comics scene. After two years of composting, Dit Lichaam returns with a mentorship program titled “Our Ever-Expanding Body,” in which mentees are paired with mentors to collaborate on an exhibition. This is the starting point to create a network of makers that can support each other through artistic and professional development.

In 2026, Dit Lichaam van Ons returns with a renewed mission: building a sustainable network for young q***r visual storytellers. Rooted in collectivity, artistic experimentation, and social justice, the project creates space for mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and collaborative exhibitions. Together, we imagine new futures for comics and visual storytelling grounded in community and radical imagination.

The work of Dit Lichaam van ons is also on view and for sale at
“Ons Steeds Groeiende Lichaam: Sappige kleuren, wulpse lijnen” from May 29. Nieuwe Vide also hosts a Zinefest with at De Koepel during 30/31st of May.

Met Animating the Future presenteren Nieuwe Vide en Patronaat een inspirerende animatie-expo van een nieuwe, opkomende generatie jonge makers. Deze getalenteerde creatievelingen brengen frisse energie en vernieuwend werk naar voren, en tonen aan dat de toekomst van animatie in goede handen is.

Ontmoet Danko, Tess, Ella, Levi, Cato en Rheia—een groep jonge makers die met hun kleurrijke en verrassende animaties verhalen tot leven brengen.

Danko (15) is een jong talent dat 2D-animaties maakt in de prachtigste kleuren. Tess (19) aka TWartz beheerst zowel 2D als stopmotion-animatie, terwijl Cato (19) illustraties tot leven wekt op papier. Levi (18) creëert unieke vibes met zijn animaties, Rheia en Ella (18) maken van stopmotion-animatie een ware kunst. Het werk van deze groep is een viering van creativiteit en diversiteit.

Deze expositie is onderdeel van de samenwerking tussen Nieuwe Vide en Patronaat, waar jonge en/of q***r makers ruimte krijgen om hun werk te tonen rond thema’s als nacht, experiment en diversiteit. De tentoonstelling is te zien van 22 mei tot en met 25 juni tijdens de openingstijden, clubnachten en concerten van Patronaat.
