Musicality of Movement for Singers

How can movement can deepen your musical expression?
During this workshop, you will experience
how every movement is carried by breath,
finding neutrality in posture, decision, and action, connecting with space, your body, others, and the audience and developing focus, balance, and physical transformation.

Each day begins with a physical warm-up and movement exercises.
In the late afternoon, you will apply this work to your repertoire, accompanied by a pianist.

Welcome everyone Mime Wave Haarlem Cultuur Gemeente Haarlem

24 augustus in de Pletterij: Studio MAPA en Oekraïense podiumkunstenaars. We zijn er trots op een krachtig initiatief van MAPA (Moving Academy for Performing Arts) te ondersteunen en mede te presenteren: “The Procession of Icons”, een zomertheaterlaboratorium geworteld in beweging, geheugen en veerkracht – dat nu vorm krijgt in Haarlem, mede dankzij de steun van Stichting Haarlem4Ukraine.

Frans van Heiningen, mentor of the analog multimedia theater, inventor, photographer, teacher, and projection animator, has passed away. Full of creative plans, a cardiac arrest halted his sparkling ambitions and also marked the end of a hopeless illness.

We will see Frans off with the family at the Brokking and Bokslag Farewell House, Herenweg 92 Heemstede. There will be an opportunity to say goodbye on Thursday, July 17, 2025, between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

Until further notice, we will celebrate his profound legacy with a theatrical analog presentation at Studio MAPA Netherlands, Korte Verspronckweg 7-9 Haarlem, on September 7 2025.

🎭 MAPA HAARLEM – KLEUR VOOR OEKRAÏNE
Bringing voices, movement, and color to Ukraine

We’re proud to support and co-present a powerful initiative by MAPA (Moving Academy for Performing Arts): “The Procession of Icons”, a summer theatre laboratory rooted in movement, memory, and resilience — now taking shape in Haarlem with also support of Stichting Haarlem4Ukraine.

This August, four young Ukrainian performing artists and their mime coach Oxana Chemyrys will travel to Haarlem to take part in the MAPA Zomeracademie 2025. Together with leading Dutch artists and coaches, they will embark on an intensive creative journey exploring identity, memory and transformation through mime, music, visual theatre, and embodied storytelling

📍 Studio MAPA Nederland, Haarlem
🎟 Final performances: Four public shows in Haarlem will be available to public on the Thursday 28 and Friday 29 August, plus a special preview on Sunday 24 August — Ukraine’s Independence Day — at De Pletterij.

This initiative is more than an artistic exchange — it is a gesture of solidarity and resistance. It supports the creative resilience of Ukraine and invests in the artistic development of a brave new generation whose voices, shaped by war, carry the power of transformation.

It also presents a Recovery Plan for Ukraine, reactivating MAPA’s theatre network that flourished in Ukraine since 2006 and continues to evolve, even in times of war.

In collaboration with:
Les Kurbas Center Kyiv, Pantomime and Circus Academy Kyiv, Mime Wave Amsterdam, Stichting Haarlem4Ukraine, and a growing circle of individual and community supporters.

Explore the work of MAPA master and war photographer Maria Volkova and the impressive artistic impression based on photo’s from the Dutch newspaper of Putin’s war by local visual artist Beppie Kooreman, now on view in the windows of the former V&D/HEMA building in central Haarlem.
