From July 18 to November 8, Galerie Année presents the project ‘NATUURLIJK’.
Three exhibitions inspired by nature.
Second exhibition, from August 22 to September 26,
featuring the work of L O N B U T T S T E D T with ‘WE ARE NATURE VI’
Lon’s paintings and sculptures point—gently yet
firmly—to the disappearance of nature.
Beneath the understated, poetic visual language

CÉCILE DUCHÊNE MALISSIN
The work of Cécile Duchêne Malissin (France) is both realistic and dreamlike. People or animals are depicted in abstract settings or amidst lush vegetation. Her works exert a strong pull and evoke an atmosphere of reverie; they are free, imaginative compositions filled with lush forms that create a poetic and unique universe. The works explore the relationship with nature, the self, and the other. They are created on paper or canvas, combining diverse techniques—such as acrylic paint, oil pastels, graphite, collage, and sometimes even stitching. The result is work that embodies both a certain refinement and a touch of the uncanny. The relationship with the body and its vulnerability is made visible through transparency effects, born of a subtle interplay between collage and acrylic paint. Themes such as memory, oblivion, and the transience of existence are also suggested. Her work is made with acryl pant and collage on canvas. dm us if you like more information about the paintings.

Als eerste expositie in de serie ‘Natuurlijk!’ laten we het werk van Astrid van Rijn zien. Uitgelicht in de galerie van 18 juli tot en met 15 augustus. In de serie ‘Nature Box’ onderzoekt Van Rijn de complexe relatie tussen mens en natuur, waarin losse elementen samenkomen tot een zorgvuldig geconstrueerde biotoop.De titel Nature Box verwijst naar de menselijke neiging om natuur te ordenen en te beheersen. Van Rijn keert dat om: in een virtueel ‘vlak’ concentreert zij de ervaring van ongerepte natuur, zodat vormen vrij kunnen bestaan, los van controle en los van hun oorspronkelijke plek. Haar werk vertrekt vaak vanuit eigen natuurfoto’s, die zij digitaal samenbrengt tot composities en vervolgens met houtskool, conté, potlood, acrylverf en pastelkrijt verder bewerkt. Zo ontstaan tactiele werken vol kleur, ritme en spanning.
Haar expositie start op 18 juli en is beneden in de galerie te zien tot en met 15 augustus. Daarna verhuist de serie Nature Box naar de eerste etage van de galerie en blijft daar te zien als onderdeel van project ‘Natuurlijk!’ tot en met 8 november.
