This April we ran our black clay course.

It brought together our continuing students — and that’s exactly why it turned out so good.
When people already feel the material, you can go further: try harder forms and play with glazes.

Everyone made their own things. They came out different, which is the point.

Mostly we just feel lucky that people stick around and want to keep making things with us. Thanks for that.

These type of workshops have a special place in our hearts! 🐒

We love seeing children and parents slow down and spend time together. Sitting at one table, sharing ideas, helping each other, talking about everything and nothing while painting ceramics.

This Father’s Day, we’re inviting dads and kids to join us in the studio for a relaxed afternoon of painting, conversation, and creativity.

We took part in a drawing competition with Marina and kids from our art lessons. The topic of the competition was about cities — dream cities, ancient ones, cities of the future, the streets kids live on, modern skylines, and cities straight out of books.

Six themes, a few age groups, and a lot of focused little faces.

The drawing itself was the best part to watch. They spent more time on it than they usually would. They wanted to win too, of course — and honestly, that’s nice to see. It meant it mattered to them.

Either way, they all put something real on the page, and that’s enough for us.

The story behind why I now pack my ceramics like I’m sending them to Mars — and why I’d never want to build a huge company myself.

A while ago, one of my parcels arrived at a customer’s door broken. I didn’t get any compensation, and themselves suggested I start buying extra insurance on every shipment. So I did.

Time passed, and the moment that insurance exists for finally happened. The answer? Denied. Reason: not enough vulling materiaal. You can see in the carousel how much of it is actually in there.

Honestly, it would be cheaper to just refund the customer than to keep going back and forth with . But at this point it’s the principle. And part of why I’m posting this is to actually get their attention.

The way I work will always be the opposite of this.

Two levels: Beginners and Intermediate. You work with your hands, no wheel involved — coiling, pinching, slab building. Small group, experienced teacher, all materials included.

Clay ‘N’ Wine workshop is a unique chance to try two ways of creating ceramics: hand-building and wheel throwing while sipping a glass of wine. Don’t feel like drinking wine? That’s ok! We also offer tea and soft drinks.

This workshop introduce you to Japanese technique in pottery: Neriage. Neriage is done by laminating different colored clays together and throwing them on a wheel to develop a swirling and spiraling effect.

How our workshop work?

🌿Wheel throwing: during this part, you will be shown a simple step-by-step guide on how to approach the pottery wheel and support you in creating your first ever ceramic pot.
🌿Hand building: when you’re not on the wheel, learn how to hand build plates. Find out how to make slabs, join clay using the score and slip technique, how to add texture, decorations and more.

At the end of the class you will have 2 finished works.
Once made, your beautiful handmade clay works will stay with us for firing and clear glazing. You’ll return a few weeks later to collect.

Don’t worry if this is your first experience with clay, as you’ll receive plenty of guidance by 2 teachers and class sizes are kept to a maximum of 10 students. The workshop is held in English.
