THANK YOU, PLAY! 🍭🔥

What a weekend.

We heard so many incredible sets, saw The Candyshop packed throughout the day and received an unbelievable amount of compliments about the music, the atmosphere and everything we built around it.

Seriously: Thank you. ❤️

A huge thank you to Play! Events for trusting us with our own area again and giving Save the Vinyl a place at this beautiful festival.

Special thanks also go to Valhalla Soundsystem for delivering the sound. And judging by the way that bass travelled straight through our bones, they definitely understood the assignment. 😅🔊
And of course Hofma Events for making The Candyshop look exactly the way it should with the lighting. 🍭✨

We hope everyone who managed to grab a cotton candy from the machine at our area enjoyed their little sugar break between the kickdrums.

There was really only one improvement point…

We needed a bigger shed. 😂

The amount of people showing up for our area was more than we could have hoped for. Seeing The Candyshop absolutely packed was probably the biggest compliment we could have received.

And apparently you liked the merch too; our Save the Vinyl merchandise at the Hard-Wear stand sold out during Play! 🔥
Missed out? It’s still available online through Hard-Wear and in their store in Enkhuizen.

To all artists, visitors, crew members and everyone who helped make this happen:

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE CANDYSHOP WHAT IT WAS.

Now there’s only one question left…

Should Save the Vinyl host an area at Play! again next year? 👀💿🍭

Greetz,

Save The Vinyl

Two weeks ago we tore the Suikerunie up at our Save the Vinyl area at Kings of Core. During Gabber Syndrome vs 501 something happened.

That moment where everything clicks. The kicks, the energy, the crowd feeling every break before the needle even hits the next groove.⚡️

You can see it in the video. You’ll feel it again.
We recorded every set and we’re processing them this weekend… but we’re not uploading them all. Some moments stay for the ones who were there.

Bio: GABBER SYNDROME vs 501

Gabber Syndrome, formed by DJ Arbi & DJ Hermaniak, are no strangers to the Save the Vinyl family. From day one, they’ve been an essential part of the movement, delivering relentless, no-compromise hardcore sets packed with pure energy and deep-rooted vinyl knowledge. For over 12 years, Gabber Syndrome has played every single edition of Save the Vinyl.

Known for their exceptional turntable skills and massive record collection, Gabber Syndrome move effortlessly between underground classics and unexpected gems, always keeping the dancefloor locked in and on fire.

On the other side of the decks stands 501, resident DJ and member of the Save the Vinyl crew. Raised within the underground hardcore scene, 501 has grown alongside the concept itself, building a deep and diverse vinyl collection along the way. His sets flow seamlessly through different shades of hardcore, from melodic and uplifting to obscure, lesser-known label releases, always driven by selection, groove and respect for the culture.

Together, this clash is about roots, skill and raw energy. Just vinyl, history and Early Hardcore the way it’s meant to be heard.🔥

Bio: BERRY (RE-CHARGE) vs NOIZER

Two names deeply carved into the DNA of Dutch hardcore.

Noizer is a true 90s hardcore veteran, forged between vinyl crates and Technics SL-1200s in the legendary General Noise Studio. From an early age he was already behind the decks, developing a raw, uncompromising style that always stayed loyal to vinyl culture.

As part of Tails, Noizer & MC Drokz, the Waxweazle DJ Team, and numerous collaborations, Noizer released music on influential labels such as Waxweazle, ID&T, Arcade, Terrortraxx and more. Armed with his record bags, he played on some of the most iconic stages in hardcore history, including Thunderdome, Megarave, Mysteryland and even Love Parade, both in the Netherlands and abroad.

Berry, better known as Re-Charge, is another cornerstone of the Dutch hardcore and rave movement. Active since the early 90s, he built a reputation through relentless dedication to the scene, both behind the decks and in the studio. His releases appeared on respected labels such as Waxweazle, Bad Vibes, BZRK, Gabberhead Records and many more.

Re-Charge represents pure, no-nonsense hardcore: functional, energetic, and always made for the dancefloor, with vinyl as the foundation.

At the Save the Vinyl stage during Kings of Core, these two pioneers come together for a rare and uncompromising back-to-back set.

No trends. No shortcuts.

100% vinyl. 100% roots.

Expect early hardcore, rave energy, and records that helped shape the scene, delivered by two artists who lived it from the very beginning. 🔥

Artist Bio: PHONZO

Phonzo is a name that carries serious weight for anyone who truly knows the Northern Dutch hardcore scene. Known for his exceptional mix skills and razor-sharp scratch techniques, he earned the nickname “Scratchmaster” long before skills became presets and shortcuts.

His journey started incredibly young. In 1994, at just 14 years old, Phonzo already stood on the stage of Mysteryland in the Tunnel of Terror at the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam. After sending in a cassette demo, he was invited through ID&T, via Sander Groet. He was told by him to lie about his age because he was so young at the time, but the talent spoke louder than numbers. That moment marked his very first major event and the realization of a clear goal.

Throughout the 90s, Phonzo became a familiar face behind the decks across the North and beyond. He played repeatedly in Kardinge, Huize Maas, Night of the Gabbers, Lords of Terror, Night of the Ravers, andd countless underground parties where hardcore was still raw, physical and uncompromising.

Phonzo has won literally every DJ contest he entered, appeared on Thunderdome Radio, and can be defined as a true hardcore vinyl addict. He played records every single day, for hours on end. Mixing wasn’t a hobby, it was a way of life. He went to sleep thinking about records and woke up wanting to improve.

Alongside this, he had a job at a record store in Groningen that was later renamed into the Northern Dance Shop.Through this job he became connected to DJ Pagan, who was a frequent visitor of the shop. When DJ Pagan started his own booking agency around 1995/1996 he immediately took him under his wing for bookings. Funny detail; when organisers called Pagan looking for good artists the answer was always the same; DJ Pagan and DJ Phonzo.

A true craftsman of the decks.

A scratch technician.

A name etched into Gronings Hardcore history.

Artists bio: STRAFFVALLEY

Two minds. One sound. Pure Early Hardcore.
Straffvalley wasn’t planned, it evolved naturally. Jarno (DJ Straff) and Gijs (DJ G-Valley) had crossed paths at parties before, but never really connected until a few years ago. During a trip to Scotland, where they supported Ruffneck at his 30-year anniversary, the spark was instant. From that moment on, things started to fall into place.

For DJ Straff, this period also marked a powerful return. A true gabber from the early days, he was already raving and collecting vinyl throughout the 1990s. In 1995, he bought his first turntables, later upgraded to the legendary Technics SL-1200s, which he still uses today. Between 2005 and 2009, Straff played at over 50 events and won multiple DJ contests before stepping back from the scene for a while.

When his comeback began and a promoter asked for a back-to-back set, the choice was obvious: G-Valley. Nervous but motivated, they recorded a demo together. It was approved immediately, leading to their first joint festival appearance at Legacy. From there, momentum built fast.
Bookings followed at Gabber Resistance, alongside multiple livestream invitations, and every time the same conclusion was clear:
This combination works 💣

G-Valley brings an exceptional record collection, ranging from rare underground gems to relentless floor-destroyers. Straff brings ARTCORE, embedded deep in his DNA. You can hear it in every set, and the crowd feels it.
Together, these elements formed Straffvalley: Intense, mesmerising and 100% dedicated to Early Hardcore.

One thing is certain:
They will tear the roof off. 🔥

Melvin Pelupessy, better known as The Viper, is without a doubt a true legend of the hardcore scene. While many people primarily associate The Viper with Millennium and more modern hardcore, his roots reach much deeper. Long before that sound dominated the main stages, he was already playing and later producing Early Hardcore on vinyl from 1994 onwards, helping to shape the very foundations of the genre.

His extensive discography includes influential releases on legendary labels such as Samurai Records, Dwarf Records, Babyboom Records, and many more.

Beyond his work as The Viper, he has also released music under aliases like The Black Knight and Radical 2 React, with notable contributions to labels including Boomtown Beats.

For this special occasion at Kings of Core, The Viper returns to the essence of the sound, stepping behind the decks with a pure Early Hardcore vinyl set at the Save the Vinyl area. Expect a hands-on performance filled with classic tracks, underground gems, and the kind of raw energy only a true veteran can deliver.

With decades of experience and an encyclopedic knowledge of hardcore, The Viper remains a defining force within the scene and a must-see act for anyone who truly understands where this music comes from. 🔥
