We are proud to present our opening act for the 2nd anniversary edition of Silophone Sessions: Korhan Futacı (alto sax) & Barış Ertürk (baritone sax)! 🎷🎷Come experience their improvisations live at , Damsterdiep 299 in on the 23rd of May! Spoken word artists, musicians, dancers, and so on: You’re all welcome! 🙂 Want to know more about the opening act? Read the bio below! 😁

Two master saxophonists from Istanbul with years of shared experience, Korhan Fıtacı and Barış Ertürk bring a rare level of depth and intuition to the stage. Having performed together for a long time, they play with the ease and tension of musicians who know each other’s instincts inside out.

Their duo becomes one body, shaping dramatic textures through fearless virtuosity. Baritone and alto saxophone collide, converse and dissolve between raw, hard-edged power and soft, atmospheric subtlety, occasionally colored by kaval, flute and small percussion.

Their improvisational interplay grows into complex forms and melodic structures, creating a live experience that’s both electrifying and intimate. A captivating set perfectly suited for intimate club audiences seeking adventurous, high-caliber improvisation.

As the next Silophone Session is getting closer, it’s time to reveal our opening act… ✨

We’re excited to welcome The Yay Cha Minas.

Formed by a multi-instrumentalist with a love for electronics and a multidisciplinary artist, their paths crossed through a community of small farmers in Westerwolde. Their collaboration is a form of subsistence improvisation. Using a stripped-back set—a hand-carved midwinterhorn, voice, theremin, and a homemade modular system—they engage in the act of "yay cha mina-ing." There is no director and no set plan; the concert simply makes itself. Often described as a film without a screen, it is an attempt to break away from how we are usually programmed. It could be an expression of pleasant surprise, or an outing of annoyance. Either way, it has been noticed.

Curious? Make sure to be there from the start!

See you on the 25th😊

This mix is reflected in the band’s name — like cables spark and emit light when connected, the band aims to create something new and bright from the meeting of different styles and personal experiences.

In July 2025, kokonut kables played at the Sounds Like Summer festival, sharing their evolving sound with a wider audience. They’re now focused on developing original material and aim to record an EP or album in the near future. Improvisation is at the heart of their rehearsals. Their regular jam sessions spark ideas, shape their musical identity and keep the sound evolving.

Our wonderful opening act for the upcoming Silophone Session on February 28th, starting at 15.30h/3.30PM is: Morris Weijers! 😁 Live at , Damsterdiep 299 in ! , born in 1991 in Amersfoort, The Netherlands, has been playing the drums for more then 25 years, and the handpan for the last 15 years. The handpan is a modern European instrument, first made around 2000 by a former company called Panart in Switzerland.

Morris bought his first handpan in 2011 from the percussion shop Stiggelbout in and later moved to Groningen in 2013. Where he has been living since. Each Handpan can have its own unique musical scale, a western or even a eastern scale. All to create specific atmospheres of melodies and Rhythms. Like a Waltz or to recreate famous songs like “Hijo de la Luna” on the handpan.

Morris has played and experimented on several Handpans with different scales, during the last 15 years, in order to compose songs and rhythms that can have either a European, African and Eastern feel to them. He will play and perform compositions alone and with 2 of his dear musician friends Charles Belfor and Remko Adema.

Silophone Session no. 14 is just around the corner! Which means it is time to share more info about our opening act with you! We proudly present: Anna Sóley! She will performing live at y2_groningen, Damsterdiep 299 in , on October 25th, starting at 15.30h/3.30PM! 😁

Singer-songwriter Anna Sóley will perform new songs from her upcoming album, Painting Reality, Photographing Fiction, along with older original songs and carefully selected covers, striving to create a cozy atmosphere and memorable moments with the audience. The songs draw inspiration from folk music and the work of singer-songwriters such as Emilíana Torrini and Nick Drake. Lilja María will accompany her on Hulda, an instrument she designed herself.

Anna Sóley studied music and literature in Iceland and the Netherlands, graduating with a BA degree in jazz & pop vocal performance from the ArtEZ Conservatory in Arnhem and an MA degree in literature from Utrecht University. Anna has performed around Europe both as a vocalist and violinist. She currently teaches Music History and Lyric Writing at ArtEZ Academy of Music, and gives singing lessons at De Lindenberg, in addition to writing, composing, and performing.
