8th Groningen Guitar Festival & Competition’s GuitarExpo

🎶23rd-25th of February, 2026🎶

We're incredibly happy to announce that Pete Beer is joining us for GuitarExpo 2026. Don't miss the chance to see and try his newest instruments in person!

“My name is Pete Beer. As a child I was always interested in music, and in making things. I first started building guitars in 2001, studying for two years at Anniesland College, Glasgow. I then went on to study at London Metropolitan University (formerly Guildhall college of furniture). In 2006, with a 1st class Bsc in Musical Instrument Technology, I moved to Gloucestershire to open my first professional workshop. From there I moved to Somerset for a number of years before returning home to Argyll in 2014. Here I built my current workshop, in the village of Blairmore, looking out over the clyde. I continue to build guitars here, sending them out all over the world.”

Admission to GuitarExpo 2026 is free for everyone! We encourage you to pick up the guitars on exhibit and strike up a conversation with the creators. Don't miss the opportunity to get an inside look at the passion and skill behind these unique builds!

GuitarExpo 2026 is taking place at Prins Claus Conservatoire between the 23rd and 25th of February.

8th Groningen Guitar Festival & Competition’s GuitarExpo

🎶23rd-25th of February, 2026🎶

We are honored to announce the return of Maksim Cuker to the GuitarExpo! Maksim's instruments are a testament to his expertise and unique approach to luthiery.

“My name is Maksim Cuker, and I am a professional guitar player and maker living in Vilnius. In 1993 at the age of 18, I handcrafted my very first guitar under the mentorship of the luthier Yuri Zirin. Having taken a break, in 2011, I returned to guitar making and crafted two guitars, the resonating sound of which stuck a chord of harmony with me and propelled me forward to continue my trade.
masterguitars.com honed my skills, but my truest teacher of all is the exceptional Ukrainian luthier named Nikolay Rudenko. Actually, I can’t say that I’ve ever met the man, the internet truly isa wonderful thing, isn’t it?”

Reminder!

Entry to the GuitarExpo 2026 is free of charge! You’re welcome to come join and try out what guitars will be displayed. You’ll be able to meet their makers and have a chat about the building process!

GuitarExpo 2026 is taking place at Prins Claus Conservatoire between the 23rd and 25th of February.

8th Groningen Guitar Festival & Competition’s GuitarExpo

🎶23rd-25th of February, 2026🎶

He's back! We're thrilled to welcome Albert Cox to the GuitarExpo lineup once again. Expect top of the tier craftsmanship and a personal approach for every build of his!

“I build acoustic instruments: folk, archtop, classical, flamenco... I work in a traditional way, mostly with hand tools. Not only because of the beauty of the craft, but mainly because it allows me to work flexibly and precisely.

I am trained in the tradition of European classical guitar building and post-industrial American builders. I use the best of both worlds and, depending on the piece, borrow techniques from one or the other. In addition, I am always looking for new insights to stretch the boundaries of tradition.”

Don't forget!

The GuitarExpo 2026 is open to the public with free entry. Feel invited to play the guitars on display and engage in conversation with the makers. Discover the stories and techniques behind these handcrafted instruments firsthand!

GuitarExpo 2026 is taking place at Prins Claus Conservatoire between the 23rd and 25th of February.
