DIY soundbar inspiration. 🔊

Looking to build your own soundbar? Troels Gravesen shows what’s possible with his Scan-Speak Soundbar design.

Designed to combine a slim enclosure with high-quality hi-fi components, this project offers an interesting DIY alternative to a conventional soundbar. The design measures around 89 dB sensitivity and reaches down to approximately 65 Hz.

Components used in this build:

2× Scan-Speak Discovery 12W/8524G00 midwoofers
1× Scan-Speak Illuminator D3004/602200 tweeter
Arylic B50 Bluetooth stereo amplifier

The design also features a custom crossover and a carefully constructed MDF enclosure.

One subwoofer, multiple configurations! 🔊

A clever modular subwoofer prototype by , featuring a 15-inch driver.

The bottom section detaches using clips, allowing the enclosure loading to be changed from bass-reflex to a horn-loaded configuration, for example. A very cool way to experiment with sound without starting each build from scratch 👌🏻

Developed as part of an architecture degree, this project explores the relationship between sound and space. The goal? Creating a flexible platform for testing different acoustic loads. We love the thinking behind this one!

A creative collaboration between Desmond's Tiki Tube Amps and . 🔊

These custom speakers immediately caught our eye. Hand built by Desmond’s Tiki Tube Amps, with the striking laser-engraved panels created by [email protected], the design combines natural wood, layered plywood edges and intricate artwork in a way you don’t see every day.

The result is a speaker build with plenty of personality. We especially like how the detailed side panels contrast with the clean wooden front, making the speakers feel more like a piece of design than a standard DIY build.

Project Ingenuity including SEAS Fabrikker AS new metamodal drivers!

A wonderful compact floor-standing MTM solution from a customer that used the latest TPCD drivers from SEAS.

These have even been to the Seas lab and have been adapted to a very good-sounding passive crossover. That’s very cool 🔊

The speakers are designed for someone who wanted a pair of slim, beautiful speakers featuring the new metamodal drivers. Mission accomplished 👌🏻

As told by the designer: the finish is decoflex walnut veneer oiled with Rubio Monocoat pure oil.

Small, cute and seriously loud. 🔊🌸

At first glance, this speaker might not look like something capable of filling an entire street with sound. But looks can be deceiving.

The goal was to create a cute, compact Bluetooth speaker in soft pastel colours that could play much louder than you’d expect. The result? A FaitalPRO HX320-8P, a Class D amplifier and a double Makita battery setup, all packed into one seriously capable little speaker.

With a 65 Hz high-pass filter and otherwise flat EQ, the speaker measured an impressive 123.60 dB at 1 metre using a miniDSP. And it has already put that output to the test at a street party. 👀

We love seeing our components end up in projects where the result is so different from what you might expect at first glance. A soft pastel exterior with some serious SPL behind it. 😏

A speaker that adapts to the listener. 🔊

The Alien’s World immediately caught our attention with its unusual shape and articulating tweeters. But there’s more behind the design than just its looks: the adjustable tweeters were created to keep the high frequencies at their best whether you’re sitting or standing.

Built as a compact mono bookshelf speaker for a small studio space, it combines a distinctive design with a very practical idea.

And this one will be on display at the upcoming Design Everything exhibition at aramgalleryldn from September 11 to October 10.

This impressive build by Francesco Vernazza combines Italian drivers with Rs Speakers Fibonacci cone design. The Aurea was designed and built in Salsomaggiore Terme, with a first listening session already under its belt.

Built around Rs Speakers drivers and finished with a striking, minimalist cabinet design.
