Maya & Gagi

Maya & Gagi seek out expressive material that can bloom outside of its cultural bubble, or at least burst some. We hope you’ll join us in this journey.

We are a duo that explores hybrid music making, in style and technology. We integrate musical elements from various practices, such as classical music, contemporary composition, songwriting, underground electronics and our shared background in Eastern European music. The cello and our voices join the stage with the newly developed GEST, which shapes aural transformations through hand gestures. We create new connections between old and new instruments to sing songs that you haven’t heard before.
