Hello, nice to meet you! Welcome to my page, my name is Anna-Lucia and I'm a Dutch artist based in Groningen, The Netherlands. My work involves installation, performance and video. Often I mix common but very characteristic materials, such as ice, bouncing balls and colourful Skippy balls, into an accessible installation. I like to play with the small but significant expectations the visitors didn’t know they had. Human longing and behaviour are a great source of inspiration for my art. In this time of geopolitical instability, terrorism and violence, I experience the lack of, and the need for, child-like security and open-mindedness. In this work I let the visitors shoot cheerful skippy balls into the forest via an age-old war machine, the catapult. Rough, uncharged energy, a rejection of, and an answer to, high tension negativity.

Art installation during festival The World We Live In 2019

The temporality of the work is central. Eventually, it will melt completely, but it will always leave tracks and ultimately transform or change into something else. Earth will do the same. The yellow ‘slippery when wet’ sign in the lobby is part of the work. It’s a sign you need to take precaution, or not. It’s your choice. The bouncing balls frozen in the Ice will in time make their way to the surface and will bounce around in another environment.

The current art installation I'm working on is a labyrinth inspired by the Penrose stairs. This project called "Penrose Maze" is currently under construction but the first phase was exhibited as a performance stage during the NYE party 2019/2020 of nightclub Paradigm in Groningen, the Netherlands. The work visualizes an extra dimension in the transition from day and night where nocturnal animals, people and their state of being come to life under the guidance of the sound of the night, be it techno beats or silent forest sounds.
