Every DJ Has a First Booking
Looking back, it’s funny how some memories stay with you forever.
My first official booking was in 2007 at Jumpfreaks on Tour. I was 22 years old and had only been mixing vinyl at home for a couple of years. Compared to now, I had very little experience, but I was given the chance to play in the second area thanks to my cousin, who believed in me.
I didn’t even own a proper record bag yet.
So I showed up with my vinyl in… a plastic Curver storage box.
I was incredibly nervous. I had spent so much time thinking about my records, my track selection, and my set… that I completely forgot one of the most important things.
My headphones. 😅
To this day, I still check my headphones several times before leaving for a gig. That habit started because of that very first booking.
There was just one problem…
I had to play right after Eugenio Dorwart
Feeling embarrassed, I walked over and asked him if I could borrow his headphones.
He looked at me for a second, smiled, laughed, and without hesitation handed them to me.
It’s such a small gesture, but it meant the world to a nervous young DJ standing at his very first event.
I’ll always be grateful for that moment.
Sadly, Bass-D is no longer with us, but he’ll always be remembered and deeply missed within the Hardcore scene. ❤️
Despite all the nerves, the set went well.
That night became the beginning of something I could never have imagined.
One booking slowly turned into another.
Step by step, I started building the journey that eventually brought me to stages I once only dreamed of.
Sometimes people only see where you are today.
They don’t see the young guy carrying his records in a plastic box, forgetting his headphones, hoping everything would somehow work out.
Every journey has a beginning.
