We hebben een permanent nieuw thuis! 🚀🎉 Gisteravond kregen we officieel groen licht van de gemeente Enschede voor onze verhuizing van de tijdelijke ruimte naar een vaste, permanente locatie aan De Heurne 44-50.

We zijn ontzettend enthousiast over onze ambities aan de Heurne. Dit centraal gelegen pand met grote raampartijen rondom wordt een echte blikvanger en het kleurrijke uithangbord van de Enschedese cultuur. ❤️

We gaan hier een prachtige, levendige wisselwerking aan met de rest van de binnenstad. Het pand wordt met zijn grote raampartijen rondom een echte blikvanger en een open etalage van wat Enschede aan creativiteit in huis heeft.

Het initiatief staat niet op zichzelf; de broedplaats wil onderdeel zijn van een groter geheel: “We werken niet achter gesloten deuren, maar openen de deuren voor de hele stad. Vanuit de Heurne gaan we een actieve verbinding aan met lokale ondernemers, bewoners, studenten en bezoekers, willen we een bijdrage leveren aan het binnenstads ecosysteem." Zo willen we op een unieke, vernieuwende manier een blijvende impact maken op onze stad.

👀 De transformatie van een statisch kantoorpand naar een actieve, creatieve zichtlocatie brengt reuring en dynamiek in de openbare ruimte. Het stimuleert de loopstromen en versterkt het unieke, veelzijdige karakter van de Enschedese binnenstad. Vanaf deze plek creëren we een logisch en zichtbaar cultureel lint dat het hart van de stad rechtstreeks verbindt met locaties zoals de Performance Factory en verder.

Na jaren van pionieren en cultuurbeheer op basis van tijdelijkheid is dit echt een droom die uitkomt. Het geeft ons de langetermijnstabiliteit die we nodig hebben om onze community verder uit te bouwen, onze organisatie te professionaliseren en bijvoorbeeld landelijke culturele subsidies aan te vragen.

Wat ons toch écht sprakeloos maakt, is hoe warm we ons gedragen voelen door zoveel verschillende partijen in de stad. Het college van B&W gelooft in onze plannen en geeft aan dat de komst van CBE een bijzondere impuls geeft aan doelen rondom cultuur, evenementen en economie. Ook bundelen we direct de krachten in het culturele middenveld door onze partners onder één dak te (blijven) verenigen.

We willen de gemeente Enschede, de pandeigenaar, de omliggende ondernemers en onze fantastische, hechte community ontzettend bedanken voor het vertrouwen.

We staan in de startblokken om samen met jullie te bouwen aan deze bruisende thuisbasis in het hart van de stad. 🤩

This hands-on session will teach you how to paint stunning designs directly onto fabric using simple household bleach. It’s easy, affordable, and the results are amazing!

FREE WORKSHOP: Thursday, June 18th. Doors open at 19:00 at De Klomp 122, Enschede. Perfect for both adults and teens.
Signing up is not needed!

😊What to bring:
You can bring your own dark clothing item to customize (natural fibers like 100% cotton or viscose work best). Overlap will also have some clothes + jeans available to use.Make sure you wear clothes that can get dirty because if bleach gets on them you can't repair that. Bring a backup old t-shirt to practice on first, and feel free to brainstorm a design beforehand.

We're organizing our first-ever jamsession Tubantiastraat 108! 🎶 This cozy, living room style jamsession is something we've organized together with multiple members of CBE as part of the Week van de Amateurkunst Enschede.

Do you love jazz, blues, and rock music, and want to join in? Come on by! Our stage has room for up to 5 people at a time. We invite both pro's and beginners to join us on stage!

🎸Not looking to play? Come hang out with us between 16:00 and 22:00, listen to nice jams & socialize!

Drinks & snacks are taken care of, and a few instruments are available (please feel free to bring your own if you can!) 🎺

🏭 Tubantiastraat 108 is a unique venue (an old 1930's confection factory, with a Swiss-themed bar area!) and hosts 39 creatives from the region

☘️ Not every artist will be present at all times, but the doors are open and you're welcome to come take a look at everyone’s work, meet those who are there, and feel the atmosphere.

🌷 is an awesome initiative by opening up 11 atelier buildings and breedinggrounds in the public.

🥰How do our collectives and the work we do around them change the way we experience our lives, the city, and even the social norms that we follow?

In this workshop, we want to use Tessa Wiegenrinck's photography -- her work documenting our initiatives and the spaces we are building -- as the starting point to explore the experiences that bring us together in the cultural scene. Our goal will be to exchange stories, memories, and perspectives, so we can draw a bigger picture of what we have been building in this city and why it is important.

The workshop and discussion will be moderated by Patyt Reyes.
