On Friday, March 27, Rijksmuseum Twenthe is celebrating a new exhibition, featuring the vibrant and q***r work of Bas Kosters during RMT Next.  And guess what? The FemDem is taking over the museum café! From 17:00 to 22:00, we’ll be treating you to an unforgettable night with DJs, art, and dancing.

Vijf jaar geleden startte The FemDem bij als een missie: ruimte creëren voor onderbelichte stemmen in de muziek. Wat begon als een idee, groeide uit tot een thuisbasis waar zichtbaarheid, experiment en gemeenschap voor Fem+ DJ’s en producers centraal staan.

En we blijven groeien! Vanaf dit jaar verwelkomen we en als nieuwe vaste radio curatoren in The FemDem-crew 💜💜💜

At this year’s U? community festival by Le Guess Who?, The FemDem had the chance to curate a day programme centered on Fem+ creators. The line-up brought together a panel on rest as resistance, two deep listening sets, and a producer workshop designed to share practice, process, and space for exchange.

Working with the LGW team was genuinely energising. Their bold approach to programming and their sensitivity to social dynamics created the right conditions for meaningful collaboration. The day also opened up new relationships both within and beyond our existing network: from connecting with local Utrecht DJs and producers, to meeting LnHD & rEmPiT g0dDe$$, who run Align.online. These individual connections are an important part of how our community continues to grow.

We’re grateful to the LGW team, all participating artists, and Ableton for supporting the workshop. Moments like these show what becomes possible when festivals actively make room for new perspectives and talent that often stays out of sight.

Tijdens Museumnacht Enschede bundelden The FemDem en de Reisopera hun krachten voor een onverwachte ontmoeting tussen opera en elektronische muziek. In de setting van Cube, de boulderhal op hoge hoogtes, klonk een opera die letterlijk boven het publiek uitsteeg.

Producer Jarlentji en mezzosopraan Isabel Pronk brachten samen twee klassieke aria’s tot leven in een nieuwe elektronische vertaling: klassiek en experimentele beats versmolten tot één bijzondere performance. DJ’s Jill-Ann en Angie Mill, zorgden daarna voor een overgang van opera naar feest tijdens de afterparty, in het schildersatelier waar normaal de decors van opera’s worden gebouwd.

We kijken terug op een bijzondere samenwerking. De avond liet zien wat er kan ontstaan als onverwachte werelden elkaar durven te ontmoeten.

The FemDem invites you to a panel talk with Loma Doom and Latoya on resilience, joy, collectivity, and rest within the practices of FEM+ makers.

Together, we’ll explore what it means to find strength in softness, to embrace joy as a form of resistance, and to create collective spaces for rest and care.

Moderated by Vanity Roxane, this conversation invites reflection on how we, as makers, can continue to grow, breathe, and flourish within an unequal field. Expect honest dialogue, shared experiences, and moments of connection.

This panel takes place as part of U?, the free community festival by Le Guess Who. If you stick around after the talk, you can also catch Loma Doom and Latoya behind the decks for a DJ set.

“Toen ik hier binnenkwam voelde ik me geen producer, maar nu, na deze songcamp, wel.” Zulke momenten laten zien wat representatie kan doen voor groei en zelfvertrouwen.

Tijdens NEWFem Songcamp kwamen FEM+ producers samen om te leren, creëren en elkaar te ontmoeten. De sfeer was open en nieuwsgierig; er werd geluisterd, gedeeld en gebouwd aan nieuwe ideeën.

Shout-out naar alle deelnemers voor jullie vertrouwen en energie. De connecties die hier zijn ontstaan laten precies zien waar dit songcamp voor staat: producers die elkaar versterken en zichtbaar maken. Samen met onze coaches, , , en .phuong.boi, hebben jullie deze editie bijzonder gemaakt.

NEWFem 2025 werd mogelijk gemaakt door: Nieuwe Elektronische Waar, Poppunt Gelderland, Nuray Boga (ITSHE), Vanity Roxane (The FemDem) en Stroom Deventer als gastvrije locatie.

We bouwen vanaf hier weer verder, aan zichtbaarheid, vertrouwen en community…

We’re beyond excited to welcome LnHD & rEmPiT g0dDe$$! as guest mentors for our free upcoming music production workshop at U? On Saturday the 8th of November.

LnHD 🇲🇲 is a sound designer, producer, and DJ fusing techno with Southeast Asian experimental club sounds to push dance floor boundaries.

rEmPiT g0dDe$$ 🇲🇾 creates trance tracks that weave together traditional tunings of Southeast Asian instruments, from Malaysia to the Philippines.
 Together, they’ll guide you through the art of music production in a fun, hands-on environment, exploring how tracks come to life.
