Natuur & Milieu :
🏠 Slechts 0,5% van alle gebouwen in Nederland heeft een groen dak. Terwijl er veel kansen liggen voor meer:
- In Amsterdam bv. is 60% van het dakoppervlak geschikt voor vergroening, maar wordt slechts 4,17% benut

🌱 We missen kansen om daken in te zetten voor verkoeling, waterberging en biodiversiteit. Een normaal dak kan in de zomer opwarmen tot 70 graden, terwijl een groen dak tot 35 graden blijft. Binnen kan de temperatuur er wel 7 graden lager door zijn.

💚 Vergroening moet veel vaker worden meegenomen wanneer bestaande gebouwen worden gerenoveerd of verduurzaamd.

Te zien bij Manifestations tijdens de Dutch Design Week 17 - 25 okt 2026 Veem gebouw Eindhoven

"You may also like" is a multi-media installation that positions the slot machine as a blueprint for the dopamine-driven relationship between humans and machines and explores the reward feedback loops that increasingly shape our society. Stylized as an infinite scroll, it invites you to step into the ‘machine zone’, a term used to describe the state of slot-machine gamblers who lose all sense of time and physical presence, fully absorbed with their game.

While the slot machine was the first device designed to deliberately capture and hold human attention, its constant, repetitive switching between certainty and uncertainty has extended to the swiping, scrolling, and clicking in everyday life today. Especially since the arrival of the infinite scroll, content has become endless, and attention increasingly scarce. In response, capturing attention has been stripped down to its most primal form: triggering dopamine through stimuli, surprise, outrage, and arousal, keeping you in a loop of chasing rewards, over and over and over again.

Dutch Design Daily NOW SHOW Graduation Show St. Joost School of Arts Breda / Den Bosch Report by Viola van Alphen of Manifestations

During the exhibitions, a number of themes stood out that also recurred in the other graduation shows: connections between people, searching for roots, and stories from the culture of the past , God, students’ feelings of uncertainty, and, as always, a few stories about gender, sexuality, and AI.

PussyRiot () and FEMEN () brought a joint protest performance to the Venice Biennale () on its opening day to confront the presence of the Russian Pavilion amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, directly addressing the art world’s most powerful audience as collectors, curators, artists, and institutions gathered across the Giardini.

Led by Nadya Tolokonnikova (), over 50 members stormed the pavilion in a coordinated action that blurred protest, performance, and political intervention. With music, smoke, and chants, the group challenged the role of culture as a form of soft power within active geopolitical conflict.

Framing the action through the belief that art is inseparable from political reality, the protest positioned the Biennale as a site of both visibility and accountability, forcing the art establishment to consider whose voices are represented, and whose are silenced.

"Creating kinetic mediums/technologies that can stand the test of time has been one of the most important aspects of my practice.

I don’t believe in creating pieces that last only a few days, weeks, months, or even years these works need to endure for decades, ideally becoming generational. Achieving this indoors is hard enough; bringing it outdoors is a behemoth of an undertaking.

For the past two years, my team and I have worked tirelessly to develop a new medium built for exactly that: to live outdoors for decades, moving 24 hours a day.

Internally, we call this medium Rings, and this first work using it is titled Athens Gusts. It was commissioned by one of my dear collectors in Athens, where it will live in their backyard.

It’s hard to express just how significant a feat of engineering this is, and I’m excited to bring more works into the world using this technology."
