The Raw Cases Edition #1: Mid-Air is now over!

During an intense week the participating artists have produced work on-site in an open process that fed on exchange, eventually establishing dialogues and reciprocal references within their practices, while sharing time, thoughts, and space.

The practice of Fatemeh Heidari ( ) explores material processes of becoming, focusing on how our social activities today are shaped by reciprocal connections between the external environment and our personal, (un)conscious life experiences.
In her works she combines different materials and techniques to questionate these connections into complex figures with bodily reminiscences.

Primarly a painter, Annie Riga ( ) often incorporates sculpture and video in her practice, where she explores and questionates the ways in which reality is perceived in our contemporary societies.
Drawing imagery from mythologies, magic realism, her own dreams and experience, her work alludes to an understanding of reality as a web of infinite interconnections, a vibrant mesh where everything exists as a constantly shifting, living substance.

With a background in painting, Hussel Zhu ( ) works across different medias, which often collide into videos where audio recordings, footages, pictures of daily acts, and sculpture are woven together.
Starting from a research around communication and language, his practice deals with, and questionate themes of memory, belonging, and adaptation.

Laura Hospes' ( ) work deals with the body, the unavoidable presence that defines the self in space and through which we know external reality. At the core of her practice is an intricate, intimate and yet ever-expanding relation with her own body, and more in detail with her skin. Researching physicality, subjectivity and the boundaries of the self through different medias, the skin will be the subject of her work during Edition #1: Mid-Air.

Here are some ideas, notes, and quick sketches that mark the beginning of Robert Lombarts' (.lombarts ) creative process towards The Raw Cases Edition #1: Mid-Air.

In his practice, Robert Lombarts researches ways to hack, bypass, or alterate meanings of objects and images, to vehicle different perspectives on storytelling, subjectivity and authorship. Often performatives, his works draw from art history, epistemology and his own surrounding extended-environment.

The Raw Cases exhibition projects focus on the work-in-progress dimension in the practice of visual artists in an open research for dialogue and interchange.
