𝗙𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗻𝗴, 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗯𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁

The first thing I do when I want to get inspired is visit the past. I've always been inspired by all different sorts of designers. And fashion and mixed media artists always touch my heart.

At a young age I was captured by versatile designer Fong Leng (1937). Her use of color, and the way she totally neglected what was 'appropriate' to design at the time in our little conservative country was fascinating. 'Rebel' doesn't cut it, she was quite the revelation :)

She was born in Rotterdam and had a Chinese father and Dutch mother. I come from a little town near Rotterdam, and I'm from Dutch East Indies and Chinese descent. So this was quite a role model when I grew up.

The materials she uses for her creations are leather, suede, silk, marabou feathers, and fur. She uses techniques like application, quilting, matelassé, smocking and pleating. I saw a beautiful photo of a very young Kate Bush wearing one of her pieces.

She didn't restrict herself to only designing clothes, but also created furniture (with designer Jan de Bouvrie), and intricate mixed media wall pieces. So inspirational.

So happy to have visited this beautiful expo in the lovely Museum Jan in Amstelveen (April 6 will be the last day to see this expo). Thank you for organizing!

𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 '𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟰 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘀'

To my immens gratitude, The 4 Spirits' was sold immediately on the Vernissage Opening ❤️ I would still want to tell you the stories behind the artwork in short. I hope you'll enjoy it!

1. The Snake - Trust your senses.
Shed the skin.
You can learn how to shed the emotional wounds from your past in the same way that a snake sheds her skin. You aren't your story of your history, but the hero of your own life.
We vinden onszelf meerdere keren uit tijdens ons leven.

2. The Jaguar - Trust your instinct.
Trust your jaguar instinct to guide you to the right people and situations,

3. The Hummingbird - Trust your sacred journey.
Let your soul experience the language of images, music, poetry and dreams on your sacred hummingbird journey.

4. The Eagle - Trust the Oneness.
Fly high above the valleys like an eagle, to see the greatness of your world, as well as every detail in it. Feel how the boundaries melt away as your individual soul recognizes our Oneness.

5. The 5th element - The Flower of Life
The Flower of Life is the 2nd symbol within Sacred Geometry. It represents the energy of unity. It has a deep spiritual meaning, and can be found in manuscripts, temples and art, in cultures all over the world. The Flower of Life is believed to contain the blueprint of all creation, and is seen as the visual expression of the unity of all creations.
And so for me, it fits perfectly with the 4 keepers of the Earth.

To conclude my story:
The Eagle lifts all symbols together, to a higher level and takes everyone on their journey. Everyone carries their own meaning in life. All phases are important. In my opinion, every human being travels through all these phases in life.

My ultimate wish is that, ultimately through the Flower of Life, everyone may find their happiness and their meaning of life ❤️

Healing Heart is thuisgekomen ❤️

Trots voel ik, en heel veel liefde. Het is nog steeds ongelooflijk wanneer een werk verkocht wordt. Het is opwindend, fantastisch en rustig tegelijk.
"Vind je het niet moeilijk om het werk te laten gaan?" vragen mensen me vaak. Maar de waarheid is, is dat ik eigenlijk nooit voel dat een kunstwerk echt 'van mij' is. Ik maak het natuurlijk, met veel drive en passie. Dan is het mijn kindje. Ik gooi er mijn hele ziel en zaligheid in. Maar ik voel me meer een soort menselijk portaal, die kunst doorgeeft. Zodra het af is, laat ik het meteen los. Dan is het van de toekomstige eigenaar. Ik heb er dus nooit moeite mee, en voel eigenlijk alleen maar blijdschap als een artwork thuiskomt.
De gesprekken met de nieuwe eigenaar/eigenaren zijn altijd zo mooi. Dat is een van de grootste beloningen. Het is soms jammer dat ik niet kan vertellen hoe die prachtige gesprekken verlopen. Want die zouden recht je hart binnenkomen. Ik hoor dan wat het werk met iemand doet, en wat het betekent voor die persoon. Ik word dan zo blij van binnen. Dat is moeilijk te verwoorden. Dus ik voel me gezegend, echt. En dankbaar dat ik dit mag doen, recht uit mijn hart, zo de wereld in.

Mijn allereerste kunstmarkt in Voorburg!

ik ga morgen deelnemen aan mijn allereerste kunstmarkt!
Het gaat plaatsvinden in Voorburg centrum, van 11.00 - 17.00, tijdens de 'Voorburgse Rondgang'.
Ik ben onderdeel van een groot aantal mini-galerietjes in de Herenstraat, waar meerdere kunstenaars hun werk laten zien. De straat wordt eigenlijk een grote kunstgalerie. Er is muziek, en er worden ook workshops gegeven (niet door mij).

Ik neem deze keer veel kleinere werken mee, en kleine kunstwerkjes die je bijvoorbeeld cadeau kunt geven 🎁
Speciaal voor de kunstmarkt heb ik een banner helemaal handgeschilderd, met mijn logo erin verwerkt 🖌️
Ik hoop dat ie blijft hangen, want het gaat nogal waaien geloof ik 😅 Maar het lijkt erop dat het de hele dag droog blijft! 🙏🏽
Kom je kijken morgen? Zou ik hartstikke gezellig vinden. Ik sta er samen met Marc, en met lekkere stroopwafeltjes 😋

VERKOCHT ❤️

Ik ben enorm trots om te vertellen dat 'Healing Heart', het klapstuk van mijn 'Hyperbolica' collectie tijdens de expositie is verkocht! Het is mijn grootste mixed media kunstwerk tot nu toe. Ik heb er bijna een jaar aan gewerkt. Het kunstwerk weerspiegelt het genezingsproces wanneer je door hevige pijn en de uitdagingen van het leven gaat. En elke keer weer je hartslag terug vindt.

Ik wil de nieuwe eigenaren bedanken voor het verwelkomen van 'Healing Heart' in hun huis en in hun leven 🙏🏽💖 Het was echt de perfecte match ✨ Ik had geen beter thuis kunnen wensen!

Ik wil ook graag Magchelina Van der Valk bedanken dat ik mocht exposeren in haar prachtige hotel, en Cecile Van der Valk voor het mij geven van zeer waardevolle tips 🙏🏽

(PS: ik heb onmiddellijk een nog groter doek gekocht haha. Je gaat het zien!)
