HIGHLIGHT KIDS: NEXT GENERATION LAB (7+) 🤖
Calling all curious kids, creative thinkers and future makers!

On Wednesday 11 & Saturday 14 February (13:00–17:00), Highlight Festival opens the doors of the Next Generation Lab: a playful, hands-on lab at OPEN (Vesteplein 100) where art, science and technology collide.

And it’s free to join (FULL = FULL).

In and around OPEN at Vesteplein, young visitors can:
🤖 Design their own futuristic worlds in the Makers Lab with KITE
🤖 Program robots in Minecraft with TU Delft Science Centre On Tour
🤖 Meet the roaming SandPods as they draw colourful patterns across the square

Next Generation Lab invites the makers of the future to imagine and create their own Robo-Futures!

Hallo nieuwsgierige kids, creatieve denkers en makers van de toekomst!

Op woensdag 11 en zaterdag 14 februari (13:00–17:00) opent Highlight Festival de deuren van de Next Generation Lab: een speels, interactief lab bij OPEN (Vesteplein 100) waar kunst, wetenschap en technologie samenkomen.

Gratis toegankelijk (VOL = VOL).

In en rondom OPEN op het Vesteplein kunnen jonge bezoekers:
🤖 Hun eigen futuristische werelden ontwerpen in de Makers Lab met KITE Educatie
🤖 Robots programmeren in Minecraft met TU Delft Science Centre On Tour
🤖 De rondzwervende SandPods ontmoeten, die kleurrijke patronen over het plein tekenen

HOW WILL WE LIVE TOGETHER WITH ROBOTS?

Robots are no longer confined to factories or labs. They increasingly appear in public and everyday spaces, raising questions about how we relate to them and how they shape behaviour, creativity, and shared environments.

On 12 February 2026, the Highlight Symposium Robotic Relations explores human–robot relations in Theater de Veste across three sessions with scientists, artists & makers.

Maaike Bleeker, Ulrike Quade, and Rocío Berenguer explore robots as radically different beings. Marco Rozendaal, David Abbink together with Animaspace (Angelina Kozhevnikova) & Hrvoje Hirsl, examine what it means to navigate space with moving, sensing machines. Serdar Așut, Amir Bastan, Jorrit Paaijmans and Aga Blonska discuss how creativity and agency are shared in human–robot collaborations.
