For the new exhibition ‘Conflict of Interest’ design studio 75B ditched all rules and standards. A series of handmade posters purposely contrast with the standardised streetscape and form a distinctive collection of images.

In doing so, 75B explores the power of a poster in public space: when is the designer a communicator and when an artist?

During Ellen Lupton’s masterclass, her group worked with materials you wouldn’t immediately associate with graphic design: using colourful icing, the participants wrote quotes on paper. They then photographed their favourite pieces and digitally edited them into a poster. How sweet! 🍭🍰🍬

Erich Brechbühl [Mixer]’s Summer School masterclass explored the relationship between content and meaning. Inspired by the content and atmosphere of a film, participants were challenged to design an alternative typographic film poster. 🍿

During Anthony Burrill’s Summer School masterclass, the floor and tables were strewn with paper cuttings and loose letters. ✂️

Participants made posters featuring contrasting words. On the second day, the class came up with the idea of bringing the various pieces together in a zine, turning it into a collaborative final project.
