Finally finished, my experimental "officer" targe, constructed after Osprey volume , consists of an outer layer of briddle leather, followed by a layer of cork, felt, 1 mm sheet metal, finished by a dear hide, straps are rivited on the metal, erges are punctured and glued and fixed by a leather strap. I MADE A SMALLER VERION TOO, I' m trying to get ut testen with a musket an a range in my tiwn. Off course this beauty us for sales. To be continue.

A new experiment underway as described in Osprey volume The Jacobite army and "I'm minded to rise" a shield made off several layers, first 5 mm corck, second a layer off wool/felt, third a thin(1mm) layer off sheet metal, back covered with deerskin, grips are riveted to the metal with hide in between, front (pic. 3) will be 4 mm harness leather, after tooling the image(in this case a Celtic cross), the hide will be soaked and glued to the corck, then held tight by a thong through the holes in the rim off the hide. Then some studding and after dring a paint job. A nice job in Covid time.
