installatie: "It takes all sorts to make a world."
Deze installatie is opgebouwd uit 57 losse objecten in/ onder glas, van 2013 t/m 2026, met ieder een eigen titel.

Detail "Reflectie"

Eveline Kieskamp is beelddenker in de meest letterlijke zin van het woord. Bescheiden, bedachtzaam en zacht pratend zoekt de christelijke kunstenaar voortdurend naar woorden. „Preek voor eigen parochie”, noemt ze het gesprek. Spannend vindt ze het, toch wel. Soms staken de zinnen en stokken de woorden. Dan verzucht ze: „Geef me klei en ik zal het je vertellen.”

Een beslissend moment was haar kennismaking met het werk van de schilder Mark Rothko (1903-1970). „Een abstract werk, maar het greep mij en zoog mij het schilderij in. Het raakte iets wat ik niet goed onder woorden kon brengen.”

💬 „Ik had altijd keurig de paden gevolgd die docenten aangaven. Maar wat ik maakte, was niet echt van mijzelf.” Die zoektocht bracht haar, onverwacht, bij de keramiek. „Daar kon ik omheen lopen, erin grijpen, kneden. Het werd driedimensionaal, tastbaar. Ik kon vormen scheppen, verhalen vertellen, vragen stellen.” In de klei vond ze haar eigen taal.

For the opening of the exhibition “Where vulnerability rises to the surface” at Galerie de Kijkdoos (Bennekom, NL), this poem was written in response to my work. With many thanks to Arjan Keene for these words inspired by my work.

TERRA SIGILLATA
I am the form that you allow to come into being here.
You are the one who gives me color and lets me shine,
in all my splendor I gladly let myself be adorned.
Who are you, creator? Where do I come from?

Am I a queen, a child, captured in stone
and chosen for an everlasting present?
Or was I conceived here from your past,
this earthly work a postponed longing?

How defiant must I be to break free
from this corset? To abandon duties,
now stepping out of the tightness that binds me?

How gentle your hands feel upon the wheel,
you who can shape me again into a woman.
How fragile may I be before I break?

What a wonderful and well-attended opening last Saturday!

The exhibition “Where Vulnerability Comes to the Surface” is now open, it was truly special to share this moment together with and to meet so many engaged visitors.

Two beautiful poems, specially written for the occasion, were recited by , one inspired by my work and one by Hanneke’s, adding an extra layer to the experience.

Our work is on view until April 19 at Galerie de Kijkdoos in Bennekom.

I’m developing a series of vases around transience, combining fresh and withered flowers in one form. Inspired by the Old Masters and vanitas still lifes.
