Jade van der Zalm: This work is about the invisible voices that always have very visible cirtiques on ones choices and actions. It is about the voices that make you feel lost as soon as a new choice arises. The voices that make you scared to choose, because what really is the right choice?

Jerrold Saija:
Evoking Orpheus

“He once controlled the natural forces of the world.
He tuned the world, until technology came and broke that unity.
He was banished by technology.”
– Marshall McLuhan

Orpheus is a Greek mythological figure, the greatest of all poets and musicians. He was able to charm all living things. Even stones were charmed by his tunes. Orpheus brought harmony to man and nature. A mortal hero, not a God. And looking at the current condition of the world, we can clearly conclude his state of being.

The world is in desperate need of a new Orpheus, to attune man and nature.

This work introduces a contemporary Orpheus within a symbolic space. To inspire the wish for him to re-exist. Are we able to welcome Orpheus into our everyday reality?

Lars de Wit: The project is about utilizing gameplay as a storytelling device in a genre where storytelling is in general never applied. When we think of gamers, we think of overweight boys, younger than 25 years old and locked up in their room playing action RPG’s all night. But the opposite is true: the average gamer is a middle aged woman playing on a mobile device.
The result is a game that questions ethical decisions in an environment that ordinarily would never ask for active thinking about more than just the optimal way to line up candy.

Roel Traa: This project is about bringing people together in the old fashioned way of telling a story. Before we had the knowledge about the world we have today, these stories were reality for a lot of people. I want to invite you to experience a very old story that has been around for centuries, but with a modern twist.

Tessa Stehouwer: Everything has its price, even non-material things like fantasy. What if you were able to buy a piece
of fantasy? How valuable would it be? How much are you willing to pay?
Come find me at the expo, where we will discuss our business further. Let’s see how high your offer
will be.

Eef Stalman:
My project is about triggering memories with smell. Memories are very personal as well as the associations we have with smell. I want to make an experience where you experience an intimate moment with yourself. It is also about the shifting and elusive part of memories. We can’t always hold on to our own memory.

Dennis van der Marel: When you’re in a conversation with someone or trying to focus on something important, we often hear other sounds that disrupt our concentration. Most people are able to filter out those other sounds, but what if… you couldn’t?
I invite you to partake in my project, The Concentration Game! Can you stay focused?
