Het cureren en presenteren van actuele tentoonstellingen is de kernactiviteit van Omstand. We zijn een beeldende kunst organisatie, gericht op hedendaagse kunst en bieden kunstenaars bijzondere expositieruimtes in een voormalige elektriciteitsfabriek. Samen met Omstand delen zij de verantwoordelijkheid over het eindresultaat van de exposities. Ons j

“Even though our works look very different and we work with different media, there is still a kind of resonance. It lies in the attitude. For example, we both work with circumstances that we cannot foresee in advance. I often build something halfway and then see what happens. As a result, my work contains a sort of improvised elements, or rather a specific moment in which something emerges. It feels as if a lightness arises then that I no longer have control over, of which I am no longer a part.”

A few years ago, I spent 48 hours in Monaco. It was there that I first started filming in a more observational, vérité-like way. Capturing people moving through a kind of glamorous, influencer-like choreography in a public square. It’s been very interesting to revisit that footage now.
