Meet our host for Cultuur bij je buur 2026, Andrew Killen and his son! Andrew is a member of Apeldoorn's expats community. Although he lives in Apeldoorn for 15 years now, it's his first time hosting. Andrew and his neighbours will open the large backyard of their apartment building to our theatre act. 🥰

"I genuinely love welcoming the event to our neighbourhood and help create a good afternoon together. It also means a lot personally, because my son, who is almost 15, will be part of it too, and growing up around culture can only be a good thing." says Andrew.

Thanks everyone for last night's special rehearsal. It was a very valuable experience to share a few scenes from our play "Alien by Choice" with a small audience and together discuss these scenes.

Also very valuable to hear that several people could relate to how we bring our theme immigration into a story mixed with humor. We will work on finding a good balance between the seriousness of this topic and some light hearted elements.

Overall, a very interesting journey both for us and hopefully you, our visitors. Thanks again for sharing this experience with us! And we will make sure to save you a seat at our final performance on 21 June also at Podium Gigant!

One of our absolute favourites last season was hearing about Canadian soldiers camping in Apeldoorn from historian Laurens van Deventer at the end of our mini-performance at Boschbad.

Laurens told us all about the history behind our love story between a Canadian soldier and a Dutch woman at the end of World War II, written by our Max Mastebroek.

It was also such an unusual experience to perform not only at Boschbad but in the pool itself! We had an audience in front of us but there were also many curious spectators walking, sun bathing, and swimming around. An experience we plan to recreate together with Boschbad again with our current project!

Hurray, we have a cast! After a few weeks of try outs, everyone got their roles and we are now officially ready to rock.

One of our absolute favourites last season was seeing some "serious" people of Apeldoorn in our funny little hats during Orpheus Ghost Tour 👻

Director of Theater & Concert Orpheus Mirjam Barendregt as well as Gemeente Apeldoorn Culture and Heritage advisor team Masja Parlevliet, Lizz Tulk, and Jan van der Gaag surely needed to put on these "ghostvision glasses 👓" to see the ghosts from the building's history during the tour!

With googly eyes and glow in the dark paint on these party hats, they were also a reference to the 60th birthday celebrations of Theater Orpheus.

Ghostvision glasses were a creation of our writer Jasmijn Leunissen and costume designer Joy Smith and certainly became part of an unforgettable memory from our project Meanwhile in Apeldoorn.
