A lovely dinner to celebrate the beginning of our CIIIC consortium journey. ✨

Around one table, with Syrian food, generous conversations, and beautiful energy, we marked the start of a new chapter for The Locus of Fear Seven.

Grateful to be building this project together with inspiring minds from art, science, technology, and research moving toward a shared mission of exploring fear, perception, and the nervous system through XR, AI, and biofeedback.

Thank you to everyone around this table for your trust, openness, and presence.

I am very happy and proud to share that The Locus of Fear Seven (TLOF_7) has been selected for support through the CIIIC Start programme.

TLOF_7 is part of a new generation of research projects exploring how immersive experiences can be used effectively and responsibly. Within this trajectory, we will investigate fear, brainwaves, AI, and immersive technology as a way to open new perspectives on human experience, awareness, and transformation.

This project brings together artistic research, neuroscience, perception research, and immersive production.
A warm thank you to Prof. Ysbrand van der Werf and Amsterdam UMC for the scientific collaboration and trust.
Thank you to dr. Funda Yildirim from Psychologie Gezondheid Technologie (PHT) University of Twente, for bringing expertise in eye tracking and perception into the research.
Thank you to van Zuijlen for the earlier KPI development and contribution.
And a special thank you to Arne van de Vliet for his strategic support, guidance, and care throughout the wider development of the project.

Excited to share that The Locus of Fear Seven (TLOF_7) has been selected for support through the CIIIC programme.

Over the coming period, I’ll be collaborating with neuroscientist Prof. Dr. Ysbrand van der Werf (UMC Amsterdam)to investigate how immersive technologies, AI, and brainwave data can help us better understand experiences of fear and anxiety.

Bringing together artistic research and neuroscience, this project explores new ways of making inner experiences visible, measurable, and experiential.

ANXIETY AS A GIFT

I’m so excited to welcome you to witness with me the result of years of research the moment this experiment finally steps into the room with an audience.

This is a new form of live visualization where humans neurons + machines collide and create something together , in real time. While the performers reveal how they work with anxiety physically, I reveal what’s happening internally / neurologically.
To me, it feels like a game changer for how we can biometrically (neurologically) integrate ourselves into the machine and what that can unlock for art, presence, and transformation.

Process Insight:
We built a custom workflow connecting EEG → AI → VR (Quest 3).
This required integrating protocols, Unity, and a real-time generation framework to read neural changes and adjust visuals dynamically.
