The Ubuntu Embassy Foundation organized: From obstacle to a collective journey: a voice for everyone ๐ค
On February 19th, a special meeting took place. In collaboration with the FNV (as a result of the internal cadre training International Trade Union Work) and the Stichting Ubuntu Ambassade, we organized an evening focused on the accessibility of the BSN (Citizen Service Number) registration process.
The focus was on a critical issue: the structural exclusion of asylum seekers, particularly those of Sub-Saharan African descent. ๐
Our Mission
The Stichting Ubuntu Ambassade was established to give a voice to the unheard and a face to the unseen. Our mission is to provide a platform for undocumented refugees, migrants, and newcomers who often fall through the cracks of the system or struggle to find their way in the Netherlands.
"I am because we are"
No accusations, only constructive dialogue rooted in the Ubuntu philosophy. We listened to powerful personal stories that are essential to making our systems human again. Registration is more than just a number; it is the path to dignity and participation. โ
Special Thanks
A big thank you to the representatives of ChristenUnie, GroenLinks-PvdA, and VONK, and the members of FNV Arbeidsmigratie for their sharp focus on the BRP (Municipal Personal Records Database) lobby.
The evening concluded with a moving spoken word performance by Kingsley Olabode (King Phoenix). ๐ค
