On Friday, May 15th BIMHUIS & The Rest is Noise welcome sound artist Lucrecia Dalt back on our stage. Following her work on various soundtracks, she recently released A Danger to Ourselves; a captivating mixture of electronic music, dark jazz and poetic lyrics.

Band member Alex Lazaro will open the evening with a solo concert. Lazaro reimagines the drum kit as a “sculptural jungle gym: a gaudi-esque architecture of percussion that demands full-body rotation.” An invigorating display of percussion. Karim Semin will DJ in the café during intermission and after the concert.

World-class leading guitarist returns to our stage.

Gilad Hekselman guitar, Orlando Le Fleming bass, Ofri Nehemya drums

Gilad Hekselman is recognized as one of the foremost voices of modern jazz guitar. His warm tone, lyrical phrasing and natural finesse make every performance a new experience. Hekselman has played with greats such as Chris Potter, Fred Hersch, Esperanza Spalding and Avishai Cohen, and has long been praised for his poetic and adventurous playing.

In 2024 he released Life, at the Village Vanguard, a live recording from the legendary New York club. A year later came Downhill From Here, featuring top bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Marcus Gilmore. The album received unanimous critical acclaim, including 4.5 stars from Downbeat Magazine. At this concert, you’ll hear Hekselman in his most natural form: in a trio, where space and intense interplay take center stage.

‘A guitarist with a truly individual voice, as intellectually compelling as he is emotionally convincing’ (Downbeat Magazine).
