Since the emergence of the art market, we have seen movements and artists come and go. Auctions, fairs, galleries, and museums often present a similar kind of art that reflects the spirit of the zeitgeist. There is a consensus about what matters, about what should be seen, bought, and discussed. But who actually determines what is relevant? And how do all the players in the field — curators, collectors, gallerists, auction houses — relate to one another within this process?

Amazing days in Venice. With members of the Arts Club, so much to see in never enough time.
Some mustgo’s are: the Holy See pavilion (The Vatican) in the women’s detention center on Giudecca. In the Giardini the pavilions of Japan, Korea, Germany, Great Britain, France, Australia, Poland, Spain and The Netherlands. In the Arsenale: Benin, Malta, UAE, Mexico, Argentina and Italy.
As well the collateral expositions: Pierre Huyghe ar Museo Punta Della Dogana and Berlinde de Bruyckere at Abbazia di San Giorgio Maggiore.
Enjoy!

The political and social situation globally has an impact on the art market. The consequences of this are not always obvious and cannot always be explained clearly. But it is certain that we are moving towards a new situation, and the first signs of this are becoming visible.

Art ownership comes in many variations. Through shared ownership, it’s possible to become the owner of an artwork that would otherwise be unattainable, for example, through an investment fund or via blockchain technology. Additionally, ownership itself takes on new forms: internet art by artists such as Rafael Rozendaal and Jan Robert Leegte remains visible to everyone, even after it has been purchased.

What do these different forms of art ownership mean, and what opportunities do they offer for art buyers? Jeannette explains all of it in her latest article for Tableau Fine Arts Magazine. Read it here (in Dutch):https://artconnector.nl/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/01-24-Kunstmarkt.pdf
