Second DJ weekend of Autumn coming up!
Friday from 15:00–17:00 I’ll be on Echobox Radio with guests Sarah Farina and Justin The Lover.
Sarah was one of the first DJs who showed me what East Coast club music can do to an unexpecting crowd during De School’s ADE program a few years back. She’s been a big inspiration since both as a dj and label owner, especially in how she treats artists with the respect they deserve, fighting to give praise where it’s due.
When I last booked her, she brought her kind friend Justin The Lover, who makes some of the most fun 160 BPM edits out there. Excited to have them both on the Cape St. Francis show this Friday for a 45-minute guest mix and short interview.
Then on Saturday, two oozy, soulful sessions: the Vice City reunion block party in Antwerp during the day, and an all-night brother-to-brother session at Paradiso after Cymande in the evening.
Vice City was the first party crew I ever joined, back when Nu-Disco edits were peaking, Petrol and Piaf were the weekly hangouts, and “trance” was only meant for Ferry Corsten fanboys. We played boat parties, opening nights, and the emotional closing of my favourite club Piaf. Somehow we even won Red Bull Elektropedia’s Best Electronic Party two years in a row, completely unprepared to go on stage after too many vodka Red Bulls.
Saturday night’s B2B is special. DJ Tracksuit, aka Timothy, is my older brother and actual godfather (his name’s literally in my passport, Belgian tradition). We’ve only done one B2B in all these years and always joke about who’s better. This weekend we’ll settle it with 6+ hours, vinyl only, after Cymande at Amsterdam’s music temple Paradiso.
