When Bart Davidse died in 1986, his family didn't speak of the illness that took him. They didn't speak of his coming out either. That was Zeeland. That was the time.
Forty years later, his brother β filmmaker Koert Davidse β finally tells the story. A portrait of a free spirit who moved to Amsterdam, studied art, and was just growing close to his brother again when he was gone. A personal reckoning with grief, silence, and the AIDS crisis that a generation was forced to forget.
At a time when LGBTQIA+ freedoms can no longer be taken for granted, this is a film that couldn't be more urgent.
