We all sense it - something big is going on. You feel it in your workplace. You feel it when you talk to your children. You can't miss it when you read or watch the news and find yourself in the next traffic jam. We have to proces tons of information every day and even our daily weather is not the same anymore. Our lives are speeding up - and it is dizzying. Actually, we find ourselves in an era of accelerations. And acceleration simply means that you don’t know where it ends. So it make sense to take a step back so now and then. To see what’s going on. And - very important - how we can benefit from it in a very pleasant way. With this in mind I designed two concepts, Art of Nosybirds® and Weathermaps©. Art which shows very different aspects of the fast changing time we are living in. Each piece of art carries its own message with an enormous colorful outcome. The idea behind the Art of Nosybirds® is very substantial and relevant. I have been noticing a diminishing of the day to day observation of our real life. The magnetic pool of the digital and fast changing world, which is constantly demanding our attention, is really overwhelming and influencing at the same timeWe eat and share information 24/7. Contemporary Art of Nosybirds deliberately shows the opposite. The easy styled and bright colored Nosybirds look like little crusaders. They encourage the viewer to keep his or her very own fantasy and look around as if it was the first time. Wonder about the common and uncommon details that we simply do not see anymore; in other words, pure observation without judgment. In fact, that’s the moment where many interesting things start. Art of Weathermap© comes from the current discussion about climate change. Our climate and weather are changing dramatically. There is extensive discussion about the development of the world’s climate. This affects us all. Contemporary Art of Weathermap is inspired by this overwhelming phenomenon and it confronts us with unique and remarkable weather situations. There are millions of different places and millions of different weather moments that can be transformed into one Weathermap. The area of the Weathermap can be large or small, e.g. whole continent, a certain region, or even a city. The painting of the art of Weathermap is always telling its own and unique story. I am based in Amsterdam and you can find my work in Europe, USA and Canada and more to follow. Because we live in a changing world that becomes smaller every day.
