Jos Brölmann Art Colorful fine art, bouncing on our accelerating live. Background and reason why of my work. Jos Brölmann. Ever since childhood Jos has always been doodling, paint brushing and drawing.

After working for years in international marketing communications, he shifted to being a full-time artist. His remarkable and colorful work has a clear message: “Keep looking as we are living in the fast lane”. Within this blueprint he created 3 different labels, "Other Stories", "Art of Nosybirds" and "Art of Weathermap". His work. Each painting is very recognizable. The combination of simplicity

New painting “Vondelpark, Amsterdam”. Living in the neighborhood of the Vondelpark in Amsterdam, I simply had to create this painting. My idea was to take the viewer into the park to enjoy it; walking and biking the wiggling lines and winding curves of the walkways and cycle paths. Painting “Vondelpark Amsterdam”, size 32 - 47 inch/80 - 120 cm.

So what is this?
This is the final version of the 3D prototype of a character which I already use in my paintings “to juice up the Art of Looking”. A figure that only is observing with its own eyes and without critical judgements. Nothing else. To see and feel what’s really going on. No screens or other distractions involved. Just imagine that!

So yesterday we had discussions with a third party about the bigger plan around this character. The design, the other versions, packaging etc. Next, we are working on its story behind and how to bring it to live in its very own way. Because Art is storytelling. So lets say, to be continued😊.

And now it’s time for “Fresh Flowers”. After our summer holidays we have new ideas and simply want to usher a post-pandemic era. That “reset feeling” made me create this painting. So I started a canvas that radiaties an intensely fresh and energetic feeling. A work that is universally pleasing… Size 39-32 inch, 100-80 cm

Well, as of today my latest serie of “flower paintings” are shown and for sale at the Atelier of Master Florist , Cornelis Schuytstraat 11 in Amsterdam! Why? Simply because they belong there. These paintings are a part of a very colorful and energetic summer-theme full of flowers, plants and accessories. A really unique and must-see occasion that breaths color!

Master Florist Menno Kroon is widely known for creating living interiors. The vibrant color compositions of flowers, plants and other intuitively chosen accessories are his trademark. His must-see Atelier in the Cornelis Schuytstraat in Amsterdam is a true eye opener. Being inside simply feels magic. It is full of “Instagrammable moments”.

With this painting “Feel Good Store” I wanted to express the pure brightness and exuberance of this Atelier and let the flowers be the absolute hero.

Nice to know. This summer I will join Menno Kroon in the Atelier in Amsterdam with a selection of my flower paintings. The paintings are a part of a complete new and very colorful theme. For a nice portion of feel good.

I made the new painting “Miracle in the Pasture” to show that open spaces in Amsterdam are becoming more and more scarce. These spaces are literally a relief. So I put the famous Concert Hall back in its original environment. In the middle of pastures, where it was built in 1888. I guess that feels good. Size 32-39 inch/80-100 cm.

For a number of good reasons, this Spring is about eccentric color compositions seen from a different angle. What could be better as two large size paintings which simply bring this message on canvas. Left “200 Years Later” size 140 - 100 cm, right “Bouquet in Motion”, size 140 - 110 cm. Questions? Gallery Vlierhove in “artist village” Blaricum, Netherlands has recently published an impressive book. Creative work of more than 200 expositions are shown since the start in 1986. Happy that I could contribute and be part of this group. And of course special thanks to this unique gallery.

My idea was to make an exuberant depiction of a still life, so it would become less “still”. That’s why for example many flowers are deliberately really out of proportion, pieces of flowers are falling down, a major stem is broken... At the same time this new painting should also provide an “in your face” feeling. Instead of being a background, the flowers make a big step forward and are coming towards you. They welcome you. To give the meaning of the painting extra strength, I used an extra large linen, 55-43 inch/140-110 cm. By the way this new painting, “Motion Bouquet” is inspired by a very small watercolor from the 19 century made by Dutch Master (and old family...) Georgius Van Os...

Friday, October 2, I happily presented one of my Nosybirds paintings named “Sun Encounters” to Mariëlle Bartholomeus who has just been awarded with the Top Woman 2020 titel (“Topvrouw 2020”). As a medical director and neurologist at Bernhoven Hospital in Oss/Uden, Mariëlle has been instrumental in leading her team through the first outbreak of Covid-19 in the south of the Netherlands. The motto of this painting is sun spreading rays of light, energy and positivity all very much needed in times of crisis and sorrows. Plenty reasons to hand this canvas to her!

Presenting “Bunch Of Flowers”. With this new work, I wanted to let a vase full of flowers blast into the place where this painting is looking at. Flowers bring happiness and therefore need to get undivided attention. “Bunch Of Flowers” is based on the painting “Still Life with Flowers” (half 1800) from Dutch master (and old family) Georgius van Os. Size 39-32 inch/100-80 cm.

And now it is time for „Blue Mind“. Like what these folks do right here. Ok, what’s that? Just staring at water? Yes, for instance. Well, Blue Mind is a real science. It shows that being near, in, on or even under water can make you happier. Good to know these days.

“Easter rush: Amsterdam is bracing itself for crowds of tourists” was the heading of Het Parool, the Amsterdam newspaper, exactly one year ago. Not now. This Easter the so called “Dog Ear” on the corner of the Museum Square in Amsterdam is empty. No tourists, not one. As an inhabitant of Amsterdam it feels unrealistic, unbelievable and nice at the same time. “Dog Ear” size 80 - 100 cm.

This is a detail of a painting I made last year called “The Blue Grocery Store”. On the pavement you can find this shopping cart. These days shopping carts have a total different role: please keep distance. The intension of all my paintings is to show our changing time. I have never thought that the role and importance of a shopping cart could change in such a short time.

Introducing a new painting “New neighbors” about an area around “Zuidas”, Amsterdam.

The painting gives an outspoken view on two very different neighborhoods. The new one is the so called “Zuidas”. Actually, it is more than a neighborhood. It’s an upscale business district which started around 2000 and located in the south of Amsterdam. The “Zuidas” develops and expands very fast.

Now this. “Zuidas” borders on several existing residential areas. An eye catching one is the area with villa’s from the fifties. This causes an amazing contrast. In this painting I bend perspective. The painting shows an avenue where beautiful designed villa’s are confronted with the high-rise of the “Zuidas”. But I gave the houses other dimensions to bring the two very different neighborhoods a bit together. Just to give some harmony in a new reality.

Birds eye view.
Paintings must be a bit of a happy maker on your wall. That’s why I use, among many other elements, easy shapes and very bright colors. Often, small details appear on unexpected places that give an extra smile. Just like here...

Our Story

We all sense it - something big is going on. You feel it in your workplace. You feel it when you talk to your children. You can't miss it when you read or watch the news and find yourself in the next traffic jam. We have to proces tons of information every day and even our daily weather is not the same anymore. Our lives are speeding up - and it is dizzying. Actually, we find ourselves in an era of accelerations. And acceleration simply means that you don’t know where it ends. So it make sense to take a step back so now and then. To see what’s going on. And - very important - how we can benefit from it in a very pleasant way. With this in mind I designed two concepts, Art of Nosybirds® and Weathermaps©. Art which shows very different aspects of the fast changing time we are living in. Each piece of art carries its own message with an enormous colorful outcome. The idea behind the Art of Nosybirds® is very substantial and relevant. I have been noticing a diminishing of the day to day observation of our real life. The magnetic pool of the digital and fast changing world, which is constantly demanding our attention, is really overwhelming and influencing at the same timeWe eat and share information 24/7. Contemporary Art of Nosybirds deliberately shows the opposite. The easy styled and bright colored Nosybirds look like little crusaders. They encourage the viewer to keep his or her very own fantasy and look around as if it was the first time. Wonder about the common and uncommon details that we simply do not see anymore; in other words, pure observation without judgment. In fact, that’s the moment where many interesting things start. Art of Weathermap© comes from the current discussion about climate change. Our climate and weather are changing dramatically. There is extensive discussion about the development of the world’s climate. This affects us all. Contemporary Art of Weathermap is inspired by this overwhelming phenomenon and it confronts us with unique and remarkable weather situations. There are millions of different places and millions of different weather moments that can be transformed into one Weathermap. The area of the Weathermap can be large or small, e.g. whole continent, a certain region, or even a city. The painting of the art of Weathermap is always telling its own and unique story. I am based in Amsterdam and you can find my work in Europe, USA and Canada and more to follow. Because we live in a changing world that becomes smaller every day.
