"Why engage with care? Engaging with care means recognising that we each need another – that what we have in common is our interdependency and vulnerability. (Commonalities which are only more valuable in light of what we have seen, and continue to see, through this pandemic.) At the same time, engaging with care also means acknowledging that the conditions of care are definitely not the same for everyone. There is no equal access to care, even if caring and being cared are fundamental common states in all lives."- This is an excerpt from the essay from Angela Serino in the latest issue of Station to Staion #4 Gamechanger.

In Solidarity - partnership statement

In response to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine following Russia's invasion, DutchCulture | TransArtists has developed a partnership in collaboration with Res Artis, Artists at Risk (Finland), On the Move, and PEN America’s Artists at Risk Connection (ARC), to amplify aid and support of arts and cultural workers.

Here is an overview of what each organization can mean for Ukrainian artists and cultural workers:

Res Artis will act as a global information portal via a dedicated section of resources on their website targeted at upskilling arts residencies to support artists in need.

TransArtists will continue to share calls for artists and cultural professionals, support mobility, international cooperation, and freedom of expression through toolkits, articles, and artist resources.

On the Move, together with its members, will continue in this context and beyond, to inform artists/culture professionals in need of relocation/support from Ukraine and other affected contexts, particularly through funding and access to (en)forced mobility-related information.

Artists at Risk can provide direct support to creatives seeking safety matching them with a host organization.

PEN America’s Artists at Risk Connection (ARC) is a global network of more than 800 organizations with many resources and ways to help persecuted artists, assist at-risk artists in navigating the ecosystem of support, and secure direct assistance, such as emergency funding and relocation opportunities. Additionally, ARC’s Safety Guide for Artists is a critical resource that shares strategies that artists can use to prepare for and navigate different kinds of risk, including physical, financial, and digital threats.

Open Call at Pressing Matter | Transartists

Open call at Pressing Matter: a 4-year research programme about colonial heritage and its legacies.

Pressing Matter investigates the potentialities of ‘colonial objects’ to support societal attempts to deal with the colonial past and its afterlives, and with conflicting claims by different stakeholders for these objects within museums. The project will critically interrogate notions of ownership, value and return as a way of enabling more equitable futures. Started in 2021, Pressing Matter is financed by the Dutch National Science Agenda (Nationale Wetenschapsagenda) and coordinated from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

They welcome proposals that critically engage with the project’s aims. It's a 3 – 12 months research residency (starting from September 2022) at Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam.

Deadline: 28 February 2022. If selected for the second round, a more elaborate project proposal will be requested for which the applicant will receive €300 as remuneration.
