Years ago, Darwin, Sinke & van Tongeren mounted their first venomous snake. When biologist Freek Vonk asked how they had done it, their answer was simple: “With our bare hands.” His response? “That was really dangerous.”

Even after a venomous snake has died, its fangs can still deliver venom. So, the work of a taxidermist is not without life-threatening animal encounters.
