A look at the life's work of fossil hunter Mary Anning (1799–1847). At just 12 years old, she uncovered the first complete ichthyosaur skeleton along the cliffs of Lyme Regis, England. Over the course of her lifetime, Anning unearthed thousands of fossils, many of them groundbreaking finds that changed our understanding of the ancient world: from marine speciments like ammonites and plesiosaurs to flying reptiles like pterosaurs.

Its immense size is rivaled by only two other excavated T. rex specimens – one of them being Stan, whose skeletal model you can see here at Art Zoo.
