We would like to take this opportunity to express our love, admiration and gratitude for Gert van Veen (aka. Quazar aka. Navigator G), the founder of Welcome to the Future. As one of the original pioneers of Dutch dance music, Gert has inspired generations of DJs, producers, promoters and music journalists. Throughout both of our careers, we’ve been blessed to have him as a mentor and friend.
It is with a mix of excitement and melancholy that we’re announcing our Capsule Secret Rave Stage at Welcome to the Future Festival's Last Dance. We’re thrilled to bring the attitude and aesthetic of our Capsule raves to the secret stage. Raves have always been the sentinels of underground dance music culture, and we’re proud to represent Amsterdam’s flourishing rave scene at one of our dearest festivals. At the same time, we’re sad to say goodbye.
We will forever cherish the wonderful WTTF memories we’ve collected throughout the years. From the first edition (2007), when we weren’t even a DJ team yet, but playing at different stages; to one of our most memorable sets together at the Future stage (2013); to the time WTTF got canceled due to a thunderstorm (2015), and we spent a sad but lovely evening at Gert’s house. Thank you Gert, Carina and everyone at WTTF for making this festival such a colorful part of our lives.
But we still have a few tricks up our sleeves. As stern believers in the concept ‘going out with a bang’, we intend to make this a magnificent final edition. The first four hours of Capsule (13-17h), you can hear three of Amsterdam’s finest playing a b2b2b. Wesley Roberts, Dragu and Noose are currently making waves with their What’Sub parties, and are taking the honors of stirring up the afternoon. The last five hours (17-22h), Spaceandtime are at your humble service – after we’ve warmed up the Mainstage.
As is customary for a proper rave, the Capsule Secret Rave Stage is ‘somewhere in Twiske’. When it comes to finding us, word of mouth and a thumping beat are your best friends. And if you really don’t have a clue, ask yourself: “If I were a secret rave stage, where would I be?” Seek, and you shall find. Step aboard our emotional rollercoaster; a trip down memory lane, into the future. Let’s make this a Last Dance for the books!
