As it is almost 2021 it's time to wrap things up! Stay tuned, because soon we will announce new collaborations for the new year!

We are very pleased to share the final documentation of the event ' To that special someone part II' co-hosted by at7 project space and Hotel Maria Kapel on the 22nd of August 2020 at Hotel Maria Kapel - HMK.

For this day of care and community, at7 invited two duos and a musician to intervene in Rik Dijkhuizen’s installation at HMK. Duos Clementine Edwards & Ada M. Patterson and Merve Kılıçer & Jake Caleb and musician Bhajan Bhoy filled the chapel with stories, questioning, and cosmic filled psych magic that reaches out to the stars. The day program also included a workshop by Staci Bu Shea, a vegan 'linner', and a formal unveiling of the HMK bar designed by Harriet Rose Morley.

This event was the culmination of at7’s residency at HMK. A process of coming together around Rik Dijkhuizen’s installation 'Inside Poolside' and thinking through notions of community, care, and collaboration.

This event was made possible with the support of Hotel Maria Kapel, Cultuurmakersfonds - Cultuurfonds, Mondriaan Fonds and Gemeente Hoorn.

A special thanks to all the artists taking part in this event and to Nick Thomas and Marta Hryniuk from Studio Wolphi for making this documentation.

We are super excited to share the radio documentation Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee Radio made during our event at Hotel Maria Kapel - HMK ‘to that special someone’, which was made possible with the support of the from the Cultuurfonds! 🎵 :

For this report, artist Fabian Reichle joined the closing event of our residency. Staci Bu Shea (CasCo Art Institute) hosted a workshop to develop a Care Rider. Inspired by “access docs,” a document that outlines the needs of a person living with disability, this tool facilitates conversations about what a collaborator needs in order to have equal access to work. The workshop explored planning-as-care, and found ways to foster informed consent and to invite greater accountability. Reichle attended the workshop and talked to Staci, Miriam Wistreich - art director of Hotel Maria Kapel, our own Bergur Anderson and participants of the workshop. In the back you can hear some snippets from Ajay Saggar's (Bhajan Bhoy) performance at the end of our night.

Have a listen and let us know what you think!

In August, HMK will host project space at7 for a three week residency. Together, the two initiatives activate the host as a caretaker and will reach out to artistic communities in The Netherlands in order to understand what it means to host communities with care. HMK started as an artist initiative in 1979 (de Achterstraat), and is now looking back to its roots by hosting experimental collectives and artists in Hoorn’s 16th century chapel. The project’s title refers to a moment in at7’s programming when they hosted and curated a show for their own members – thinking about exchange and what it means to invite. at7’s residency instigates a mentor/novice relationship with a public program to be announced soon.

Dear all, thank you so much for coming to the last event of at7 at this location. The space was glowing in our favourite color. We would like to thank the artists of DRUM BUZZER, Ghislain Amar, Ro Erika, Victor Santamarina, and Sophie Varin for the amazing show and all the people who showed at, and created at7 for the past 2,5 years.

We will now take a little break to dream about the future and we might pop up near the river the Maas sooner than you think. 🔥🔥🔥

HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!
