Figura, Dutch Academy of Figurative Sculpture biedt intensieve workshops die een introductie vormen o Er wordt hoofdzakelijk naar levend model gewerkt.

Hoe kun je als figuratief beeldhouwer je vakmanschap ontwikkelen? De mens is je uitgangspunt, maar wie helpt je het menselijk lichaam te begrijpen? Figura start volgend jaar de intensieve tweejarige opleiding Sculpture. De opleiding biedt een lesprogramma waarin de tijd genomen wordt voor observatie. Studenten krijgen les van docenten die hebben gestudeerd aan The Florence Academy of Art, een gere

nomeerde klassieke academie voor realistische figuratieve beeldende kunst. Bij Figura ligt het accent niet zozeer op het ‘klassieke’ als wel op het ambacht, op kwaliteit boven kwantiteit, en op vakmanschap als voorbereiding op kunstenaarschap. Figura biedt inleidende workshops in Amsterdam. In deze korte intensieve cursussen maken studenten kennis met de methode en werkwijze van het jaarprogramma van Figura. Er wordt lesgegeven in het Engels en in het Nederlands.

Final 48 hours to order Drawing in Space!

Figura has been closely connected to the teaching and development of Drawing in Space.

Our founder, Director, and Principal Instructor, Sanne van Tongeren, studied with Robert Bodem in Florence and brought the Drawing in Space method to the Netherlands when she founded Figura in Amsterdam. Today, the method remains at the heart of our sculpture programme, where students learn to observe, build, edit, and understand the human figure in clay.

Many of the people behind the book are also part of the Figura community. Sanne was one of the book’s peer reviewers; created the anatomical illustrations; and Robert Bodem, Poppy Field, and Hywel Pratley Sculpture all regular teach workshops as guest instructors at Figura.

Drawing in Space brings together a method that has shaped a generation of figurative sculptors and teachers. It is a practical and deeply considered guide to observing and sculpting the human figure from life.

The Kickstarter campaign is now in its final 48 hours. After this, the first-edition hardback print run will be confirmed.
