“Sensual Dichotomy” is a conversation between presence and perception. When I painted her, I wasn’t just thinking about form—I was thinking about the way women exist in spaces where they are both seen and unseen, desired and dismissed, admired and controlled. She reclines, but she is not fully at ease. Her hand, though delicate, suggests resistance, an awareness of the gaze that lingers upon her.
The golden energy behind her is more than movement—it’s emotion, memory, something untouchable yet undeniably there. It could be passion, freedom, or even the remnants of something taken from her. I wanted this contrast between her stillness and the background to speak of a deeper tension: the way femininity is often romanticized yet rarely left unclaimed. There’s strength in her partial withdrawal, in the way her body curves yet refuses full surrender. This is what I wanted to capture—the constant negotiation between power and softness, the weight of being seen, and the quiet defiance in choosing how to be seen.
