You can still join us tomorrow or friday at AREA 59!
Moving in and out of the floor/ Moving in and out of contact:
The traininglab with Nicola Balhuizen Hepp is an investigation into a deeper awareness of our bodies and eachother while moving. We will start warming-up with an approach Nicola is using in her Contemporary Flow classes at the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten. There is a lot of focus on dancing together, CI and bodywork. Taking time in the beginning of class and returning to the basics to become more aware of our bodies and what we are doing, the class starts out slowly and easily to escalate to more dynamic and organic movement towards the end. Dynamic differences, the slow flowing and the fast flowing of movement and energy is an inherent part of the training as are breath, flow and the interconnectedness between ones center and the extremities. We will work with set material and improvisation, and there will be lots of floorwork and physical contact as we are moving in and out of contact- with eachother and in relation to the floor and the air around us. The class draws on principles from Releasetechnique, Flying Low, Alexandertechnique and CI.
The TrainingLab is an initiative by AREA 59 a new collective in Amsterdam, where choreographers, dancers, performers can train within a new format that can stimulate a rich diversity of different visions of the body, of movement and of the choreographic practices. This platform fosters experiments and explorations via sharing and exchanging between the leader artist and the participants.
The TrainingLab is meant to be an open and accessible concept, so it costs only 5 € per day per participant.
