For this documentary I wanted to create a maritime feeling, with instruments that could capture a big dynamic spann, to make the compositions feel vivid and human. Since the Indo community has a strong connection to boats and the ocean because of the past migration, was this something I wanted to make hearable in the music. Which instruments could be associated to waves, boats, hybridity, the ocean? For me that became the harmonium, the cello – played by Alfian Emir Adytia, kendang played by Wulan Dumatubun, my analogue synthesizer, my gamelan sound pack from Native Instruments topped with field recordings from Indonesia.

MUSIC RELEASE!

The original soundtrack from the documentary ”Zorgdragers” - exclusively on 💛 link in bio!

It was a true pleasure to create the soundtrack for Juliette Dominicus ”Zorgdragers” - a documentary that breaks the silence about mental health among psychiatrists/ healthcare professionals. ”Through the lens of the sisterly relationship between Juliette and her sister Marcia, an intimate portrait unfolds of a group of healthcare professionals who dare to admit what many cannot: that they too, need help.”

Thank you Juliette for yet again a fantastic collaboration filled with trust and inspiration, love working with you! ☺️
Also many thanks to Naomi Wills, the awesome producer at Tangerine Tree 🌳

And of course to Mike Verlaan (aka OpenMike), featured on 4 of the 7 tracks on hand drum, specially requested from Juliette ☺️ It was a fun process, blending hand drum samples and electronic textures. In the ending track ”The Wounded Healer” we let the hand drum bloom out and float freely 🍃

Many thanks also to Johannes Bergil and Alfian Adytia for letting me use a few samples of theirs on cello and saxophone. Small details but it was the cherry on top 🍒

And nicely done with the Sound Design for the docu, Coen Bruins!

Not posting so much nowadays but still ~out there~ living the freelancer life🫡 Here’s a lil’ recap of some of my work so far in 2025!🐬☺️

•Started this year with some exciting foley recordings together with Yorick Sedee at PostaVermaas! With among others - ”The Birthday Party” starring Willem Dafoe(!) and a super nice kids show named ”Freek Tapes”. I love being behind the mix table and record Yoricks all creative ideas!

•Very happy to work with Juliette Dominicus again on her upcoming documentary ”Zorgdragers”. With a highly important topic - stigmas around mental health. Together we came up with a concept for the composition which I later worked out and recorded with Mike Verlaan on hang drum! Synthesizers, hangdrum and samples from recordings with Alfian Emir Adytia and Johannes Bergil makes the music and the docu will release somewhere after summer 🦋

•Other great news - Tussen Wall en Schip- documentary by the power-duo Sven Peetoom and Juliette Dominicus will finally start to be screened in cinemas from June on! I’m very happy to have made the composition for it featuring Alfian Emir Adytia on cello. It’s a documentary that highlights the importance of exchange between generations, about roots and identity which really grasps your heart. With among others Benjamin Caton 🫶🏽 Be sure not to miss it 🇮🇩 I’m also thinking about releasing the music on bandcamp!

•And this week I’m finishing up Sacha Celine Verheij’s upcoming Spoken Word album! It’s been so special to follow Sacha’s path in exploring her roots from Indonesia, Maluku and Suriname. Together with Alfian Emir Adytia we’ve been working the three of us on tracks combining poetry, music and interviews with Sacha’s family members. Will also be released somewhere soon! Proud of you Sachimi!!😚

•The music I made for the documentary ”Liefde in procedure” last year featuring Lamin Kuyateh on Kora, can be seen on NPO2 on the 13th of May! Made by the amazing Moos Pozzo and Laura Huygen 🙌🏽 We get to follow the couple Fams and Kelly (who also co-produced the docu) and the reality of an asylum process and how it impacts their relationship.
