www.shop-around.nl Shop Around is based in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and New York. We are continuously on the lookout for up-and-coming talent to foster.

Established in 1998 as a rep agency - mainly representing illustrators and graphic designers - Shop Around developed over the years into a creative production agency that specializes in contemporary illustration, graphic design, animation, motion graphics and interactive design. From here we co-ordinate all our projects and hold strong contacts with our network of about 80 freelancers. And strive to bring new artists to market. Our aim is to give a broad overview of 'what is happening' to advertising agencies, publishers, TV companies, record companies and direct accounts (companies not working with advertising agencies). We pride ourselves in being able to offer unparalleled expertise and experience managing complex briefs and tight deadlines for our clients.

Funny how things sometimes turn out. About 15 years ago, we created these illustrations for a campaign promoting the ABC islands. Fast-forward to today, and we've already had a second studio on Curaçao for three years. Apparently this campaign worked really well.

As we wrote last week, Shop artist Chocotoy was asked to build an entire visual universe for Jowell & Randy, the legendary Puerto Rican reggaeton duo whose collaborations include global superstar Bad Bunny.

The result is funny, colorful, and impossible to ignore. Offbeat characters, bold patterns, and playful graphics show up everywhere, from promotional campaigns and apparel to plush toys, vinyl figures, and even inflatables (see last week's post). The identity spills across campaign visuals, clothing, plush toys, vinyl figures, inflatables, and just about anything that can carry a graphic. Each element is designed as part of the chaotic Jowell & Randy world: explosive, fun, urban, and full of movement.

Jowell & Randy is a world-famous and influential reggaeton duo from Puerto Rico that has been active since the early 2000s. They are regarded as one of the most stable and innovative acts within the urban genre, having collaborated continuously for over twenty years. They achieved international breakthrough with the global hit "No Te Veo." Later major successes include "Bonita" (with J Balvin) and "Safaera" (an iconic collaboration on the Bad Bunny album).

Over the past few months Shop artist Chocotoy had the opportunity to help them build their visual universe. The project began with the conceptualization of Jowell & Randy 3D, an identity inspired by the energy, humor, color, and individuality that have always characterized their music. From there, a graphic language was developed that evolved into a complete visual system. Various characters were explored, as well as graphic elements, patterns, promotional material, clothing, collectibles, plush toys and inflatable figures (as shown here) , installations, and all kinds of branding applications. Each element was conceived as part of the same world: explosive, fun, urban, and full of movement.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be opening more doors to this wonderfully unhinged project. Stay tuned!

This is a project with real heart. Working alongside Lime Art, Shop artist Chiara Vercesi created the new look for the Youth Hub at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. Every part of the redesign grew out of conversations and workshops with young patients and hospital staff, shaping everything from the illustrations to the colours and layout into a space made with its community, for its community.
