And we're back for another edition of IMPRO Amsterdam! Nap time is officially over.

We've been hard at work behind the scenes booking international talent and local spaces, while cooking up some artistic surprises y'all will definitely enjoy.

The first announcement (of many) we want to make is that IMPROotje Amsterdam, the mini festival that also acts as the auditions for each year's main stage ensemble, will take place October 10th and 11th. Save that date!

Secondly, we'll be opening registrations for IMPROotje on August 8th. If you're a Netherlands-based improviser and want to take a full-day workshop with an incredible local director that ends in a audition showcase and potentially a spot on the 2027 cast, save that date too.

Watch this space for a vigorous array of updates and information. IMPRO Amsterdam 2027 already promises to be the most fun edition yet, and we can't wait to get you all involved.

Night 2 of IMPRO Amsterdam 2026 featured so many surprises, but perhaps the biggest was the last-minute spectacle of One Man Crime Wave directed and performed by the incomparable Peter More.

Peter swooped in at the very last second following a schedule change, and did he ever deliver a madcap feat of solo improvisation.

Around these parts, Peter's known as one of the best solo performers in the art form, able to discover wild stories and tons of resonant characters, while gifting audiences a love letter to genre theatre.

Thanks Peter for being a late addition to the festival, and for showing us how rich a show can be when there's only one improviser on stage.

Marvel at Alexandra van Paassen's documentation of Peter's show, and don't forget to check back here soon for a look at Night 3 (and highlights from jams, showcases, and the world of our wonderful audience).

How do you possibly follow a show as brilliantly silly and totally historically accurate as Molière Unscripted?

The 2026 Festival Ensemble found a way!

Night 2 of IMPRO Amsterdam also featured the momentous Historical Mockumentary, directed by the towering Craig Cackowski and starring Carla Cackowski, Gurbakshsingh Khalsa, Nicole Mischler, Tom Roelofs, Heather Urquhart, Jens Van Kamp,, Bala Viswanathan, and Craig, too!

Technical genius Lindsey McGowen and musical madman Markus Wisth Edvardsen provided dazzling illumination and a score to match.

In case you missed it, it was a ridiculously funny education in Spanish history that definitely had zero factual inconsistencies (just don't look up any of what our improvisers said or did).

Check out these wild photos from our very talented volunteer Alexandra van Paassen and stay tuned for more, more, more memories of the festival!

Night 2 of IMPRO Amsterdam was an historical jaunt through cultural, literary, and theatrical times long (and not so long past).

Kicking things off on our main stage was Molière Unscripted, directed by the marvelous Gael Doorneweerd-Perry.

Starring pro players Inbal Lori, Laura Doorneweerd-Perry, Charlotte Gittens, Paul Berrocal, and Gael, musicians Markus Wisth Edvardsen and Guido Boogaard, and lighting/sound wizards Lindsey McGowen and Wouter Roos.

Molière Unscripted was the pinnacle of silliness and brilliance, featuring hysterically accurate deconstructions of intimacy and syntax, incredible depictions of French aristocracy and servitude, and the best broom joke of the festival. Also, remember Gael in a bush? That was very fun.

Enjoy these photos by the amazing Alexandra van Paassen and stay tuned for more photo highlights from all eight nights of IMPRO Amsterdam 2026!

Opening night of IMPRO Amsterdam 2026 ended with one of the most beautifully experimental shows we've ever booked.

Every Jon and Aree Everywhere All At Once, created by Jon Nguyen and Aree Witoelar, was two shows in one, exploring a multiverse where Jon and Aree played the same person across time and space.

It was blissfully silly and hilariously mind-bending.

Starring Jon and Aree, along with Comediasians and Herring & Chopsticks members Stephen Lee, Yuehan Liu, Duncan Wrigley, and Babette Hinterleiner.

Photos by incredible volunteers Yael Rozanes and Caidan O.

That's it for Night 1! Stay tuned for more snaps from seven more nights of IMPRO Amsterdam 2026.

IMPRO Amsterdam 2026 rocked.

Following opening night's It's A Love Story was the an improvised reunion rehearsal (concert?) from the biggest band you never heard of but absolutely, totally existed.

Directed by the powerful Lucy Trodd, REUNITED: The Band transformed the festival into a full-on live music venue featuring hit after made-up hit.

Starring Lucy Trodd, Stacey Smith, Heather Urquhart, Ralph Krumins, Markus Wisth Edvarsen, Erica Maity.

Photos by the amazing volunteer Yael Rozanes.

Keep checking back here for the final highlights from Night 1 of IMPRO Amsterdam 2026.

IMPRO Amsterdam 2026 may be over, but the memories will last forever.

The problem is that us improvisers have oddly short memories, so we wanted to make sure we reinforce all the wonderful moments of this year's festival with an extensive highlight reel of every single show.

Starting with It's a Love Story, the Taylor Swift-inspired masterpiece directed by the great Kiki Miller-Hohnen. What a way to open the festival, indeed!

We laughed, we shed a few tears, we tried to remember the rules of Dungeons & Dragons, we marveled at all the incredible montages, and learned a thing or two about what it means to fall in love.

Starring festival ensemble members Carla Cackowski, Craig Cackowski, Jeroen Du Chatinier, Billy Kissa, Lindsey McGowen, Anton Romanus, Nardje Trepels, Jens Van Kamp, Balasree Viswanathan.

And we're saying goodbye to IMPRO Amsterdam 2026!

Before our production team takes the most deserved nap in history, we wanted to extend an infinite amount of gratitude to all the performers, teachers, directors, volunteers, students, attendees, caterers, venues, and everyone in between and beyond for making these past eight days unbelievably magical.

We couldn't have done it without you all, so thunderous applause all around. Thank you, sincerely, from the bottom of our exhausted and joyful hearts.

Over the next weeks and months we'll be sharing stories and highlights from this edition, and maybe even news about 2027, but for now, excuse us producers. It's sleep time.

See you all soon.

NEW WORKSHOP ALERT

We have a new workshop on offer for tomorrow (Sunday 29 Feb) called Applied Object Work!

In this highly immersive workshop, you'll practice object and environment work in an applied setting. You'll play 2-person and group scenes based on the suggestion of "post-festival teardown" and "unloading equipment, chairs, and staging," becoming an integral part of the festival narrative.

You'll explore the material, weight, and density of imagined (but also very real, heavy) objects in a collaborative environment.

And if you haven't guessed already, this isn't a real workshop, but a call for volunteers to help us with teardown tomorrow. Any volunteers get a free show tonight, pizza tomorrow, and tons and tons of gratitude from us, your very tired production team.

Sign up at this link: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/improamsterdam/2094462
Or come find a production team member this evening. Thanks!
