Recapping 2021: finding myself at home in the desert again almost 20 years later. 9 months ago, I went to Egypt for the first time to celebrate the birthday of a dear friend who truly became family. Over the course of the year I found myself going back again and again and again, each time falling in love with a different part of the country and connecting with such beautiful and open hearted people. Yalla beena it's now my 2nd home, where else would I go to end this year? One more last dance in the desert and on the Red Sea awaits. See you in 2022 #molokhiafordays

It's been a while. I have been laying low lately, and I will admit, at times certainly spending some in the shadows, a bit detached from it all, and giving in to the fog of uncertainty that many of our lives have been plunged into and thrown mud onto the otherwise speedy wheels of purpose and drive. It certainly isn't the way I envisioned starting a new chapter in a city I have felt at home in for years.
It's been a year since COVID pulled a handbrake on what I will admit in the last few years has become one of my favourite things to do in the world: get lost in the music, connect with an audience, exchange glances & smiles, feeling the sweat drop from the ceiling, and the knobs getting misty. It's been over a year since I was lucky enough to not only work hard and play hard(er) like I got to that sweaty night in the Binary Multiversum, and I'm hopeful we'll get to do that again on a dance floor somewhere out there soon. In the meantime, I'm staying grateful and flowing on. Hope you are all doing OK too. 🙏🏾😌🌌💞

3 years ago, I turned 33, and found myself at a crossroads in life. During a period of self-reflection, I found myself fascinated watching a gently swinging pendulum clock in an observatory demonstrate the passage of time and knock over markers demonstrating the rotation of the Earth. Watching it in motion, almost imperceptibly, made me appreciate how the forces of the universe are in perpetual motion, spinning, ebbing and flowing through everything. As an engineer, I should have been content marveling at this simple science experiment. I kept pondering though and got lost in thought beyond science and mechanics: lost in thoughts of human connection, thoughts of where the journey on this spinning blue rock could lead, thoughts of what I wanted to do with my time here, and with it setting some imperceptible intentions while the pendulum kept swinging.
3 years later, I can bear witness to the power of manifestation of true intentions. One of those imperceptible (and at the time probably improbable) intentions was to devote more time and energy into the pursuit of music, and creative, artistic pursuits as a balance to my mechanical and rational mind.
This mix sums up what Flow Sessions is all about to me: letting the music and beats guide the journey, going with the flow, and not least of all showcasing the immensely talented artists whose music has not only inspired and influenced my musical tastes over the last 3 years but also includes the music of my adolescence, the music of my ancestors, and an unabashed love of emotional vocal melodies in juxtaposition to deeper ends of the sonic spectrum. I hope you enjoy the journey, and the imperceptible pondering that may result over the 3hrs 33min. 🙏🏾🌌❣️

Things might have seen quiet lately since returning from Bali 3 months ago. Mostly I've been busy lately on the Flow Sessions project (exciting announcements coming soon!), exploring Bremen's IRGENDWO, and working crazy hours doing the rocket science thing. I have also been listening to a lot of new music (and irrespective of the 'rona, there has been a lot of gems being released lately), so I was delighted when Anett Kulcsar reached out and asked me to make a Comport Podcast. Tune in Friday 18:00 - 19:00 CET (16:00 - 17:00 UTC / 02:00 - 03:00 Melbourne ) on Data Transmission Radio.
Some fresh new music from Akbal Music, Kiosk I.D., Art Vibes Music, Sol Selectas Records, DAYS like NIGHTS, The Soundgarden, Watergate Records, Children Of The Future, The Other Eye and more

Chapter 6 Part 2: finding the time for reflection and appreciating the people the universe brought you into their lives and helped you become better versions and grow. And given I write this with photos on a 🌋, I can also say this to tie it in: The highs only matter more when you find yourself in the hills and valleys, and can serve as a guide, a destination that you can navigate your way towards #balilife #balichronicles #reflection #gratitudeattitude

It might be the all too dismal start of summer or perhaps some fomo from knowing my Bali family is currently on their way back to one of the most precious corners of this planet, but sitting here in my living room with the heating turned on in the middle of June does not sit right. Dammit if I couldn't use some tropical escapism right now.
Recapping 2020's memorable moments. Chapter 6: That one time we decided to take a 1hr nap, eat some instant noodles for brekkie and walk up a volcano in the middle of the night. Seeing the view actually made me momentarily consider becoming an early bird, but only momentarily. #worthit #takemeback #balilife #gunung #baturmountain

Recapping 2020's most memorable moments. Chapter 5: Arriving in paradise for the first time and knowing in your bones that this place feels ridiculously like home within a matter of days. Recapping some of my favourite moments of the last two months Part 1: Quality Time in a Spaceship🛸. The whirlwind 2 ½ week trip back to Melbourne consisted of cheeky DJing gigs, morning matcha lattes, afternoon smoothies, late night grilled cheese sandwiches with enigmatic pianists, and a lot of quality time with my beloved spirit animal. Thank you for being you and welcoming me with such open arms & heart. Can't wait to be back with the full family next time around 🛸🌌💕👁👁💕🌌🛸 @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Hard to believe my 5 day trip to Bali has turned in to 1 month...and despite our temporary age of isolation, I am fortunate to say that it has been great to see how the musical and artistic community have come together in these tough times. For my part, I have done my best to wield my superpowers of connecting, and networking here and am slowly discovering what a well-spring of creativity and talent Bali is, even in these Corona times, and through this weekend's AfrikaBurn live stream program, would love to invite you to catch an early set from yours truly from this tropical paradise.. (starting in T-02:00 hrs - 13:00 CET / 12:00 UTC / 01:00 HAWAII / 19:00 BALI / 21:00 MELBOURNE). And if you can't make it for mine, be sure to check out some of the other amazing musos and DJs on the line-up today inc. Dolbytall, ATARAX, and my beloved Chloé Rambo (aka Bambi Rambo).

DEEP GHOSH | Bali Lockdown | Something Slow
What a difference a month makes. 1 month ago I was sitting in Melbourne and making grand plans with my spirit animal Sriracha about our summer, and then the world was put on a (much needed) time out. This is my personal diary piece written here from isolation in Bali (for which I am tremendously grateful given I am on one of my dream islands for the first time). I was supposed to pass through for a few days before returning to my jetsetting life of working on satellites and hustling for gigs and events. Thankfully, the music can and never will be stopped.
I hope you can use it to reset, reflect and think about how we can start again. A huge thank you to the artists whose music continues to inspire and heal. 🙏🏾💞 Deep

Sriracha x Deep | Revolver Sunday Sesh
My musical connection with Sriracha started on the dusty plains of the Rainbow Serpent Festival in 2019, where I stumbled upon a crowd of people dancing around a circus train. I thought 'who the hell is this chick playing half my playlist?' We connected soon after and by the time I left Melbourne, I had an incredible new musical soul family.
Fast forward to Summer 2019, and The Monastery that made us cross paths yet again--this time on my home turf in a way, at The Gardens of Babylon. A fiery, and some dare say deep, musical bond was forged in the Kloster Café that Saturday night after I cheekily asked her if she had her USBs on her shortly after I was asked to play spontaneously at the Not-So-Secret Stage. Next thing she knew, she had her impromptu debut at one of the most beautiful and beloved musical gatherings around. That night and the follow-on adventure at Garbicz and Berlin were probably among the two unforgettable weeks of 2019, and one that left us certain that we were kindred spirits of sorts, somehow each other's spirit animals.
Fast forward again to March 2020, when I snuck off for my yearly visit to Melbourne and was graciously invited to stay at a spaceship, and woken up on a Sunday morning with the news that Sriracha was suddenly left without a b2b partner, so she walked into my room and cheekily asked if I had my USBs on me. Next thing I know, we were back to continue that musical bond and write another incredible little chapter together at a little neighbour joint called Revolver Upstairs.
It has been a somewhat surreal start to the new decade, and one clouded in much uncertainty and soul searching, but one thing is certain: Yelena and I have many more chapters and adventures to write together. Europe awaits my spirit animal 👨🚀💞🌶
Love,
Deep
