Continuing the exhibitionโ€™s theme of collective creation and the interactions between activism and art, the finissage programme includes a guided tour in Bahasa Indonesia, a performance by Rotterdam-based artist Samboleap Tol (), and an interactive painting and woodcut print workshop led by members of Taring Padi (). The programme aims to spotlight dynamics of the personal and the collective, as well as the emotional, physical, and spiritual existences in the continuous struggle for justice.

โ–ช๏ธ Sign up for the finissage event! โ†’ ๐Ÿ”— IN BIO

Together with Non Native Native () we are delighted to invite Samboleap Tol to stage her sonic visual lecture-performance. Through her practice, she strives to situate her personal experiences within the broader narratives of history and politics in order to illuminate the spiritual dimensions of activism and political existences. Samboleap will perform โ€œMake Time for Happy Momentsโ€, in which she reflects on her childhood as a Khmer refugee in the Netherlands.

Members of Taring Padi will be present to offer a guided tour in Bahasa Indonesia, and to complete the new work that has been in progress since the opening of ๐˜›๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ฉ ๐˜”๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฌ๐˜ข. Taring Padi will share reflections on the process of making this new banner. Visitors are welcome to join and contribute final touches to the work and participate in a woodcut print workshop that will run throughout the event (no artistic experience needed).

Vrooom #98

โ”† DIANABAND
โ”† VALENTINA VELLA
โ”† MINT PARK
โ”† CHYPKO

Curated by Ash Kilmartin and Lukas Simonis, Vrooom #98 once again will take place at Klooster Oude Noorden, where the hallowed Kapelzaal will resonate with four different multidisciplinary sound performances. This will be 3rd to last Vrooom. Don't sleep on this.

location: Klooster Oude Noorden โ€“ Ruivenstraat 81, Rotterdam
[ please note: the usual entrance is in use again as of now! ]
doors: 20:00 / start: 20:30 / end: 23:00 / entrance: โ‚ฌ10,- (pin or cash)

โ”† DIANABAND โ”†
Dianaband is an interdisciplinary artist duo consisting of Wonjung Shin, and Dooho. Based in Seoul, they work on weaving everyday objects, landscapes and sections of contemporary society into sound, turning them into portable instruments, creating spaces where objects with sound and movement resonate. In their work, sound is a relational event, a structural device or situational event.

โ”† VALENTINA VELLA โ”†
Valentina Vella (IT/US) is an interdisciplinary artist who makes autofictional work about precarity, mental health, love and post-capitalist imaginaries. She explores the way the body, sound and rhythmical patterns modulate, enrich and sometimes contradict language in performance. She is always propelled by an urgent desire for another world; conjuring strategies for change like a manic witch; and often admitting defeat.

โ”† MINT PARK โ”†
Mint Park is a Seoul-born/Amsterdam-based sound and new media artist who works at an intersection of music, technology, science, and art. Her audiovisual practice focuses on the experience of the inter-weaving physical environment and virtual spaces within immersive environments created with sound, light, and spatial apparatuses.

โ”† CHYPKO โ”†
Dreamgaze band from Rotterdam whose sound is characterized by ethereal synths and melancholic strumming guitars that sometimes stir up darker themes. Think Broadcast, Vashti Bunyan, Sibylle Baier, Arthur Lee, Blonde Redhead, Mazzy Star, and the like.

This an experiment to create a community currency and alternative medium of exchange. The tokens are provided to our contributors and the lucky few who joined our launch activities. At the end of the fair (16 July) anyone who received the tokens can exchange them into cash with NNNFAIR staff according to the below value.

You can also choose to keep the token to yourself. All tokens will have some value within the future edition of NNNFAIR / NNN activities, with possibilities of appreciation or depreciation.

Unfolding Everyday Practices: A collective reading on Intimacy and safe space (60 mins)
reading session with working group members
RSVP โ†’ linkinbio

This reading session, co-organized by Framer Framed researchers Jiyoung Kim, Emily Shin-Jie Lee and artists M.C. Julie Yu and Lu Lin, features stories of banal objects, everyday bodies, and routine labor. Starting from M.C. Julie Yuโ€™s essay In a Masseurโ€™s Mind and Lu Linโ€™s zine project Reading My Panties, the session aims to create a space for collective reading, sharing, and discussion around the notion of intimacy and safe space from (migrant) womenโ€™s perspectives.

โ€”--------

โœจJiyoung Kim works at Framer Framed in public programs and research. Her current focus is on developing a new methodology of research by facilitating cross-national, interdisciplinary conversations between Europe and Asia.
โœจEmily Shin-Jie Lee works at Framer Framed with a focus on art residencies and crossinstitutional collaborations. Since 2022, she has been conducting a PhD project at the Amsterdam Schoolfor Cultural Analysis (ASCA) at the University of Amsterdam, in which she studies art residency and its critical engagement with ecological, feminist and decolonial inquiry.

๐ŸŽ M.C. Julie Yu is a freelance masseur, an interdisciplinary art worker and a novice activist. currently based in Rotterdam. Across the fields of art, culture, and massage, her recent practice focuses on personal experiences as a migrant and interdisciplinary worker, specifically related to senses of othering in postcolonial and capitalist cultural phenomena.
๐ŸŽ Lu Lin is a researcher and artist born in China, currently living and working in Arnhem (NL). Her practice utilizes artistic approaches to deconstruct the complexity of safe spaces and explore their socio-political and cultural factors in relation to marginalization, drawing on intersectionality, feminism, and queerness.

NON NATIVE NATIVE

Non Native Native (NNN) is a cultural platform which looks into the Asian creative landscape in The Netherlands through the lens of outsiders from within. The platform serves as an alternative point of exchange for critical creative practitioners between the Asian and Western cultural landscapes with the focus on contemporary visual culture. The initiative was formed in late 2018 by designers and curators: Belle Phromchanya, Darunee Terdtoontaveedej, and Honey Kraiwee.
