Together with Bread Buffet, .d hosts the second activation of ๐˜๐˜ญ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ ๐˜”๐˜ถ๐˜ด๐˜ต ๐˜‰๐˜ฆ ๐˜Š๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ฑ, their installation which will become a learning space and a work site. In this session they will think through the systems that shape how food moves, who has access to it, and what kinds of dependencies are built into everyday nourishment.

How did food become infrastructure? What does โ€œcivilizationโ€ have to do with grain? What forms of labor, extraction, and control sustain contemporary grain distribution systems? What knowledge have we lost through industrialization and centralization? And what might resilience, interdependence, and self-sufficiency look like in the future?

Bring your curiosity, experiences, doubts, and questions, and join Common Ground in slowing down to think collectively about the fragile systems that sustain us, and the possibilities for building others. There will be snacks and drinks provided.

On Friday 26 June, we will host ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ญ๐˜บ ๐˜ด๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด, a very special two-part programme that centers the plant-ally Saint-Johnโ€™s-Wort and the q***r poetics it offers. Join .sasahara , and ***rchoir_amsterdam for an afternoon of q***r collective care!

During the workshop, Jules and Sasa will share knowledge around what Saint-Johnโ€™s-Wort has to offer in terms of physical and mental healing, and A.E.Z. Pinay will invite the group into his grieving practice in the form of choral mourning. Limited tickets available, so secure yours soon!

During the evening programme, Jules and Sasa will give an introduction to their research, offer Saint-Johnโ€™s-Wort tea and oil for hand massages, and invite the audience into a collective sonic meditation. ๐˜ž๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ ๐˜ช๐˜ด ๐˜ž? with Kayleigh Bedford Wyatt ()

With this series, ๐˜ž๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ ๐˜ช๐˜ด ๐˜ž?, we want to shine a light on the talent within our volunteer community. Kayleigh Bedford Wyatt (she/her) is a self taught maker with a life-long art practice, that recently stepped back from her career as a baker and pastry chef to undertake a bachelors at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Alongside her studies she works as freelance trash-tour guide and is a qualified yin yoga and meditation instructor.

While her work was centered around the exploration of her own subconscious mind, primarily expressed through abstract painting, she is currently immersed in an experimental phase in which she is between identities, both personal and artistic. As she explores new themes and mediums, the only thing that really feels defined is her desire to create space for more communal storytelling experiences in her proces.

The contributions of our volunteers play a crucial role in our activities and in sustaining W139 as a space for radical imagination and solidarity. Over the years, the W139 volunteer community has grown and connections have flourished through get-togethers and events.

(Slide 1-3) With some beautiful weather in the beginning of May, we had a tonir-style clay oven building workshop at .siblings.collective with . You can still join us on Saturday 13 June for the second installment of ๐˜ฌ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ข๐˜ด ๐˜ฌ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ, where we gather to activate the oven with a full day of workshops, cooking, and eating together.

(Slide 4-5) Later in May, Common Ground (.d) mediated a thought provoking session about food systems, mills and grain, food autonomy, aid, famine, and the quiet violence that is embedded in the price of flour. As part of belitโ€™s larger archival project ๐˜™๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜–๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ธ๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ฆ, this video installation and tapestry center the labour struggle of a group of first-generation migrant women from Turkey in the Netherlands in 1978.

Through a non-linear narration found archival images and the memories of the women partaking in this dispute meet. The embodied and the sensory take centre stage. Memories, silences, and laughter forge their own ways of relating, imagining, and re-narrating.

While the video installation includes conversations with the women, across from it, the monumental tapestry collages photographs of women workers standing side by side. It is informed and inspired by the patterns on the textile worn by the women in the photographs of the dispute.

is a visual artist, researcher, and educator whose practice is deeply rooted in long-term (archival) research with a particular focus on visual representations of structural violence, migration stories, and afterlives of images. By juxtaposing archival fragments with speculative storytelling their work invites audiences to engage with historical absence as a space of potential.

We are excited to announce the second, 2026 Para-siting with Amsterdam-based platform MANY!

๐˜ฎ(๐˜ˆ)๐˜ฌ๐˜ฆ (๐˜”)๐˜ฆ ๐˜บ(๐˜–)๐˜ถ(๐˜™)๐˜ด is a performative podcast series exploring love, desire, relationships, and the hidden infrastructures that choreograph our intimacies. Structured as a hybrid of podcast, performance, and research lab, recorded on video, and staged live in theaters, galleries, festivals, and nightlife spaces MANY sidesteps familiar scripts, slips into characters, and lets conversation happen through role play and deliberate transformation.

During Para-siting, MANY will use the space at W139 as a site for gathering, researching, and experimenting. They will host open activities like a reading group and radio workshop, alongside private sessions with interviews and character-building.

MANY is an Amsterdam-based platform that emerges with a desire to de-link knowledge and artistic production from traditional notions of authorship. During Para-siting, MANY is configured by , , Michaelย

On this day of gathering, firing and cooking we will gather at Four Siblings to activate the new tonir-style clay oven and the small stove, created during the first installment of ๐˜ฌ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ข๐˜ด ๐˜ฌ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ on 20 April. Join us for this afternoon of collective food preparation, cooking, and eating together as ways of sharing knowledge about food systems, forgotten recipes, and lost rituals.ย 

Martina Manterola and Carmen Serra, cofounders of colectivo amasijo, an intergenerational feminist collective who work across art, cooking, and land-based pedagogy, will join us with their own rituals, practices and foods, and we will be creating small clay structures and sculptures to bake bread inside of together with Tatiana M. Melo.ย

What does the ground unleash when it is denied keeping what it holds? How does soil get implicated in the carrying of catastrophe? And how does continuous excavation for artefacts reveal an obsession to erase history in order to create a new one?

We will be screening Dina Mimiโ€™s short film ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜Œ๐˜บ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ต ๐˜•๐˜ฆ๐˜ท๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜š๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ, which narrates the story of Ram(z)i, a lonely working class man who died twice. Areej Ashhab will be sharing excerpts from her film ๐˜“๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜จ๐˜ฉ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜Œ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ด, and connecting them to her new installation commissioned for this exhibition.

The Ground Keeps What It Holds by Areej Ashhab ()

A patch of lime-plastered floor appears suspended between display and burial. In dialogue with a 1991 ritual at W139, where artists buried valued objects to โ€˜chargeโ€™ the ground before installing a new floor, this work engages ancient burial practices in Palestine and the aftermath of their settler-colonial excavation.
In W139โ€™s charged groundโ€”where objects remain buriedโ€”an โ€˜unfleshedโ€™ lime skin, once domestic and sacred, hovers over the rubble and abandoned trenches of ongoing settler-colonial digging. It asks: what might the ground unleash when it is denied keeping what it holds?

is an artist and researcher whose work addresses material heritage loss, more-than-human ecologies, and land politics. Areejโ€™s practice spans material experimentation, writing, and film, and often unfolds collectively through walks, workshops, and shared meals.

As part of the ๐˜ง๐˜ญ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ, ๐˜ธ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ, ๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ช๐˜ญ public programme, Areej Ashhab will be screening her film ๐˜“๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜จ๐˜ฉ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜Œ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ด on Wednesday 27 May in the context of ๐˜ข๐˜ง๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜ข๐˜ง๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ท๐˜ฆ๐˜ด: a film screening and talk programme which will also bring in the work of Ola Hassanain and Dina Mimi.

The Ground Keeps What It Holds, is a new work by Areej Ashhab, commissioned for ๐˜ง๐˜ญ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ, ๐˜ธ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ, ๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ช๐˜ญ , a group show initiated by and on view at W139 until 12 July 2026.

All profits from the sales of The World Is a Wound publication will be redistributed to Gaza Sunbirds, Gazan individuals and families fundraisers, and other Palestine related fundraisers
