As a choreographer, when you are asked to work on a new version of West Side Story, you say yes, accepting all the responsibilities and challenges that come with remaking it 3 generations after the still iconic original 1957 production. And when an intuitive producer like .hans pairs you with the theatrical vision of and musical mastery of you know you're in safe hands.

And when on day 1 in the studio you see the same passion and ambition in the hard work of an incredibly talented cast, you realize the journey is only upwards.

Thanks to everyone for the past 8 weeks of hard work, generous creativity and artistry. I am deeply grateful for the journey and process together towards this special premiére at

Had the plesure to sit with at to talk about dance. Particularly my take and inspiration on the iconic choreographies in West Side Story for .
She wrote a wonderful article, journeying through generations of Dutch choreographers who have been influenced or created to this music and story.
It is quite the honour to be mentioned among the greats and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker who have inspired myself and whole generations of new choreographers.

To the wonderful creative team led by director with whome I had the immense pleasure to work and create alongside. Thanks for the trust in your inspiring vision.
To my team of dancers who are such wonderful cameleons of stage. wonderful assistant To all the artists I have met and had the pleasure to watch them work on this production so closely, led by the musical mastery of To and their production teams for supporting this creative journey so warmly, making me feel at home.

I had an inspiring time these past weeks in Helsinki, diving deeper in the Finnish culture.
After 100 years of its first opening, we had our premiére of this new version of traditional finnish opera 'Pohjalaisia' by Leevi Madetoja.

Had great pleasure and fun in choreographing moments of this new take of Tchaikovsky's 'Pique Dame' by Benedict Andrews with the artists and choir at Bayerische Staatsoper. Thanks for the short but great time in the making, and the whole team of wonderful artists involved. Also meeting good old friends again after many years.
