One of the things I enjoy most during an exhibition is watching people pause and engage with the work.

Without checking their phones or hurrying past, they take a moment to connect with it and let it resonate.

As a curator, creating those moments of connection between artwork and viewer is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

And just like that, Bron van Inspiratie has come to an end.

A heartfelt thank you to the artists who shared their work, to De Paardenkamp for their continued partnership, and to everyone who visited, supported, and spent time with us over the weekend.

After a windy and chilly start, we were fortunate to close the exhibition with sunshine, many visitors, and wonderful conversations.

Thank you for making this fifth edition so special.

Until next time.

Day one of Bron van Inspiratie is behind us.

Despite the weather, we welcomed visitors, shared inspiring conversations, and saw meaningful connections form through the artwork, the horses, and each other.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and spent part of their day with us.

Tomorrow is day two, and we’d love to welcome you. If you’re looking for a day of art, horses, and inspiration, there is still much to discover.

Emotion has always been closely connected to equine art.

Horses are rarely neutral subjects. They carry memory, grief, freedom, admiration, and deeply personal experiences.

But when the subject already moves us, what makes the artwork memorable?

That question sits at the heart of my latest essay for Inside Equine Art.

The last days before an exhibition are always the most hectic. Final confirmations. Final checks. Final phone calls.

What began months ago as a collection of ideas, sketches, conversations, and location visits is now becoming a finished exhibition.

Over the past months, this group of artists has come together around a shared source of inspiration: the horses of De Paardenkamp. Each artist approached that inspiration in their own way, resulting in a diverse and personal collection of work.

As curator, it has been a privilege to watch these works develop from the earliest stages and gradually come together into a cohesive exhibition.

Bron van Inspiratie opens this weekend.

New this year: Start Your Collection.

The Dutch Equine Art Fair 2026, is introducing a new initiative designed to make collecting contemporary equine art more accessible.

Start Your Collection presents a curated selection of smaller works by participating artists, created with first-time buyers and emerging collectors in mind.

Because every collection starts with a first piece.

Applications for the fourth edition of the Dutch Equine ArtFair are now open.

29 October – 1 November 2026

As an equine art curator, I often find myself asking the same question: Do you have a body of work, or a collection of individual pieces?

It sounds like a simple question. It isn’t.

Many equine artists do not realise there is a difference until someone points it out.

If this question resonates, I offer Art Consults and the Curator Method for equine artists seeking greater clarity and direction in their work.

A glimpse into Cavalcade, a powerful project by Pierre & Florent, currently on view as part of Amazones! Cavaliers et icônes de mode at the Fragonard Museum in Arles.

Through photography, film, and textile installation, Cavalcade explores memory, identity, transmission, and the lives of contemporary horsewomen in the Camargue.

My sincere thanks to Pierre & Florent for their kind permission to share these images.

When the comfort zone becomes a cage. As a curator, I see this often. Many equine artists reach a point where their work is established and successful, yet no longer feels as alive or exciting as it once did.

That discomfort is often not a problem. It is a sign of growth.
