I am honoured to have been invited by the Embassy of Turkmenistan to curate a Paard Verzameld pavilion at the Akhal-Teke World Championship 2026.

Celebrating the beauty, elegance and cultural heritage of the Akhal-Teke horse, the event will bring together an international equestrian audience.

The pavilion will offer a broader perspective on contemporary equine fine art through a selection of works by Mirelle Vegers and Nadiia Zhebrakovska.

4–6 September 2026

I’m pleased to share one of the projects I’ll be curating this year: The Windsong Horses, a solo exhibition by Australian artist Karenosbornart.

Over the past months we’ve been working closely across continents to shape an exhibition that reflects both Karen’s evolving practice and the story we want visitors to experience. It’s been a rewarding collaboration, and I’m looking forward to seeing it come together.

The Windsong Horses opens this October 18th at the Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre in Queensland, Australia.

Congratulations to my friend Kyoko Yoshida, whose work is currently on view at the National Art Center in Tokyo.

I have known Kyoko and followed her artistic career for many years, so it is especially wonderful to see her reach this milestone.

Every so often, an artist reaches out and something in the work makes me stop and look a little longer.

Mark Fraley’s collages did exactly that.

There’s something fresh in the way he builds the horse from fragments of place, colour and found material. It feels familiar and unexpected at the same time.

Still curious to see where the work goes, which is often the most interesting place to start.

One to watch.

I always enjoy seeing an artist’s sketchbook.

As a curator, sketchbooks often tell me as much as the finished work. They reveal how an artist observes, experiments, and gradually develops a personal visual language.

These sketchbook studies by Alisa Rosenfelder offer a beautiful glimpse into that process. A few confident lines are enough to capture movement, character and the essence of the horse.
