Karen Osborn’s The Windsong Horses opens, 16 October at Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre, Queensland, Australia! 🥂

My curator’s note is on the wall, inviting visitors to notice the smaller things: a glance, a shift in posture, the space one horse gives another. This is the language of the herd, and Karen has a rare understanding of how to observe it with patience and care.

After a year of working together on this exhibition from opposite sides of the world, it’s wonderful to see it come together.

Two artists. One subject. Two ways of seeing.

Straight after the Dutch Equine Art Fair, another art project takes shape at the Living Horse Museum. For the third time, the museum is creating a space to explore new ways of experiencing equine art. I’m grateful for their continued support.

Friends Mirelle Vegers and Sjoerd Blokker have very different artistic worlds. At Museumnacht, their work comes together around one question: how do we tell the truth about what we see?

Let’s go! Karen Osborn’s artwork is packed and ready to make its way to Queensland for The Windsong Horses, opening on 15 October at Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre.

I’ve been curating this exhibition from Amsterdam, so seeing Karen’s work on its way makes it all feel wonderfully real. I can’t wait to see it come to life in Cooroy!

Today marks 12 years since James Way passed away. Nearly ten years ago, I reached out to his partner, Annie, and we’ve kept the conversation going in honour of James and his work.

Over the past few months, their son Lion and I have been shaping Full Circle, a tribute exhibition to James. I’m grateful to the Living Horse Museum for making space for this first exhibition of his work since his passing.

It means a great deal to all of us to bring James’s work to Amsterdam. I’m looking forward to meeting Annie and Lion.

The Dutch Equine Art Fair 2026 programme is here.

Join Andrea Zachrau and Matthew Seed for photography talks and Q&As. Watch Mirelle Vegers and Tony O’Connor paint live, and discover Cath Driessen sketching and Sjoerd Blokker painting in and around the stables.

Melody Hames, The Horse Barber, will also showcase her horse-clipping artistry through live demonstrations.

We’re also introducing Full Circle: James Way, A Tribute to His Life and Work. In this special exhibition, his son, Lion Way, shares his father’s story through reproductions of some of his best-known paintings.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll take a closer look at these artists and special features.

This year’s programme brings together Mirelle Vegers and Sjoerd Blokker for Twee Manieren om Waarheid te Vertellen (Two Ways of Telling Truth).

A curator’s dream: an empty space, full of possibility.

Karen Osborn and I have been quietly working across continents on her wonderful solo exhibition, The Windsong Horses, opening in at the Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre, Australia.

Soon, this space will be filled with her artwork as an exhibition with a beautiful narrative begins to take shape.

It was a true honour to write the curatorial text for Japanese artist Kyoko Yoshida’s solo exhibition ‘Close to the Horses’.

Having followed Kyoko’s artistic development through Paard Verzameld over the past seven years, I found the opportunity to contribute to her exhibition particularly meaningful.

Congratulations, Kyoko. I am immensely proud of you and look forward to sharing photographs from the exhibition soon.
