Extremus Megalomanus is an interactive sculptural composting machine and a true omnivore. At the top of the spiral staircase is a composting toilet, where visitors could relieve themselves while enjoying the view. The lower section consists of urinals, vomit and ej*******on stations. All human waste is collected and recycled. Man feeds the machine and ultimately becomes one with it.

We treasure warm & sh*tty memories of the Festival and its art route on the mesmerising island of Vlieland. In 2019, we presented several artworks, including Extremus Megalomanus by Joep van Lieshout.

As the event approaches, we treasure warm memories of the Festival and its art route on the mesmerising island of Vlieland. In 2019, we presented several artworks, including Extremus Megalomanus by Joep van Lieshout and Vestibular S. Observatory by .sebjanic & Arnout Meijer.

In this site-specific audiovisual observatory the sound and light of the Vlieland island and the Wadden Sea were aligned; under and above the surface, audible and inaudible, day and night. The angle of an inland dune was precisely in line with the path of the sun, making from the inverted dome a local sundial. A subaquatic soundscape traveled over sixteen speakers that were placed on the edge of the dune, corresponding with the sixteen hours of daylight this time of the year. The underwater recording mix bioacoustics of marine life, aquatic sounds and the presence of human generated noise into a local soundtrack from the surrounding Wadden Sea.

The artwork Ellipse in Motion is a refined exploration of perception, movement and colour. As the viewer’s position shifts, an elliptical form appears and recedes, creating a subtle visual dialogue between presence and absence. Simultaneously, colours transform across the surface, generating a dynamic interplay that evolves with every change in perspective.

Launched by Transnatural during Milan Design Week 2026 as part of the acclaimed Sphere in Motion series, Ellipse in Motion invites viewers to engage with the artwork as an ever-changing experience rather than a static object. Through its carefully orchestrated optical effects, the piece challenges conventional notions of form and depth, revealing new dimensions with each encounter. 

Sphere in Motion is a new hybrid artistic design concept featuring both standalone art objects and wall coverings. A collective of artists and designers has been invited to explore the boundaries of transformative and immersive experiences within interior architecture.

Sphere in Motion has been launched during the Milan Design Week 2026. A new hybrid artistic design concept featuring standalone pieces and wall coverings.

A collective of artists and designers is invited to explore the boundaries of transformative, immersive experiences in interior architecture. A wide range of techniques and scientific research lead to autonomous works using a shifting landscape of shapes, patterns and colours to create a dynamic, mesmerising atmosphere.

Participating artists and designers of Sphere in Motion include the duos Lars van Vianen & Chris Kievid; Alissa van Asseldonk & Nienke Bongers (A+N Studio); and Jetske Visser & Michiel Martens (Studio Martens & Visser).
